Just too bad for UM. Doubt they have done anything that all the other schools have not done in the past. Get that Top 5 national recruiting ranking and you make the big boys mad. They expect you to stay down on the bottom and feed off of crumbs.

This is as close to the truth you are going to hear. My brother was close to the situation last year and I can remember him telling me, as below explains, what was going on. MSU may be biting off more than they want to chew on this one if they did start all of this. On Tunsil, I haven't heard anything on it.

Copied from the OM Spirit:
First of all, this information is from several sources including Yancy, Coach34, and some MS educators I know. Also from everything I have heard Chris is an innocent bystander in all this shameful mess.

1. Houston High School's principal bumbled around for 6 months on Chris's transcripts. He told our coaching staff he could not provide transcripts because of Chris's transfer. This is the reason we could never arrange an official visit. The principal also hinted to other schools that Chris would be ineligible. Chris only visiting State never had anything to do with Mullen's superior evaluation.
2. Houston high school's coach basically shielded Ole Miss and other schools from recruiting Chris. As reported by Yancy we had a hard time getting on campus.
3. From my understanding, we finally got a foot in the door through his father. From what I have heard we actually followed the lead from Melvin Smith when he went to Auburn. Auburn was given the same transcript BS story and Melvin went this route. It was literally THE ONLY WAY to Chris Jones because of a literal "Bully Block" in Houston. This entire time Chris and his mother were being told by Houston coaches and administrators that MSU is the only team really recruiting him.
4. Our coaches explain the situation to Chris's father who throws a monkey wrench in his recruitment. Coach34 and ilk speculate we paid his father at this point.
5. In January we are finally able to meet with Chris at Houston High School and schedule the official visit. Remember we are in January and our coaches have had very limited contact with Chris.
6. Chris shows up for one night in Oxford on our big recruiting weekend (everyone knows the drama). Coach34 and ilk proclaim we brought in prostitutes from Memphis. I doubt the validity of this, but say we did, this is not breaking an NCAA rule. Remember, Tony Hughes admitted to taking several MSU recruits to the Pony (What do you think happens there).
7. Coach34 claims Chris Jones was sent by Mullen for recruiting lintel and he has the goods on us. Really, one night in Oxford and he has the goods on us? This is practically the only contact we even had with Chris.

8. The real "rumors" are Jones' transcripts didn't match the grades he was given. This was the hold up on his enrollment.

I do not think these NCAA investigations are stemming from anything MSU has said or questioned....like I said before, you rank high among the big boys in recruiting and they are going to want to know how/why/when/what. UM loves to think MSU has nothing better to do than call the police on their rival. Hardly the case. UM on the other hand did witch hunt JWS with a vengence. Look east if you want to see who is asking ??? about the success UM had recruiting. As far as a high school coach shielding players from certain schools and being more available to others....pretty common.

#1 I wouldn't trust Yancy as far as I could throw him. He speaks with forked tongue.

#2 HS coaches do it all the time. Happened all the time at South Panola. Happened at Charleston too, my hometown. Miss State wasn't given a chance at the top players. They were pushed to Ole Miss or Northwest CC.

#3 Ole Miss fans can't be this naive. I know I wouldn't be if it were reversed and State brought in a Top 5 class out of the blue. I would call some things into question pretty quickly. It would quickly draw the attention of the NCAA.

You're yawning a lot lately.

Either this is picking up steam and/or you need more sleep. Either way, sit tight.

I don't think Freeze is any dirtier than the others, but Ole Miss is an easier whipping boy than Bama, UF, LSU, etc. You can bet irregularities are there just like anywhere else though, which should be troubling if you are Ole Miss since the NCAA is snooping around, if for no other reason the recruiting for the 2014 class being adversely affected.

Meh, I'm not worried about it. They've cleared the Johnson case. They will look into all the top recruits we pulled in I'm sure. Treadwell, Tunsil, Connor. The NCAA has already shown their incompetence in the Cam Newton deal and the Johnny Foobaw cases. Ole Miss raised some eyebrows so of course they are going to investigate.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Unless someone hands the NCAA hard evidence nothing will happen. The guts that pay recruits(at all schools not just Ole Miss) are very good at covering their tracks. The NCAA will not be able to find anything unless someone closely involved decides to spill the beans.

I'm being told by a VERY reliable source that John Bond has audio tapes of the bagman & Mr. Jones.
Scheduled to be released on Head2Head today.

All I am saying is from my source, which is right in the middle of it, is the transcripts were held up being given to other coaches. I am sure it happens at every school with whoever is in charge of transcripts depending on what college they are loyal to.
