Best case scenario for Ole Miss in my opinion is playing them close and not getting any key player, especially the QB, hurt in the process. From what I have seen, if something happens to the starting QB, Ole Miss could be in for a long year. He took a few tough shots against Texas. Let Clinton-Dix or one of those guys get an open field shot at him running the spread option and what appears to be a great season on the horizon for Ole Miss immediately turns into a grease-fire.

Another way to view this, for the Ole Miss fans that believe they will beat Alabama, you are essentially stating that Ole Miss is or should be the frontrunner for the BCS National Title. If you beat Bama, you should also beat LSU and Texas A&M.

I suppose if Ole Miss does beat them, it would be wise to start booking a trip to Pasadena the following Monday.

I hope Ole Miss does beat Bama...soundly...I just don't see how it happens though.

I think the game will be very close, but it will be a different type of game than the Tide/TAM game. I predict a lower scoring game than many are thinking --- mid 20s to low 30s by both teams.

While the Tide has more talent, depth, and a distinct home field advantage, the Rebels match up better against the Tide than other teams due to scheme and the right type of personnel.

Comparing the Rebs to TAM, I think the Rebs have a more balanced offense, better defense, and better special teams.

Even more potentially dangerous for the Tide, the Rebs have little to lose and everything to gain. There is virtually no pressure on Ole Miss to win, which should allow the Rebs to play looser.

I think the Tide will most likely win the game. As I said above, it will be very difficult for the Rebs to pull out a win over the Tide. But, I would not be shocked by an upset Rebel win. Much stranger things have happened in college football. And saying that does not mean that I think the Rebels are the best team in the country. Such only recognizes the fact that the better team does not always win.

Wallace is a tough QB. He proved that last season, playing with an injured shoulder for most of the season. Yes, if he were to get injured, it would be a tough blow for the Rebels. But losing your starting QB would be a tough blow for just about any other team as well. Freeze won't coach scared, nor will Wallace play scared. Nor will any of our players play scared. Nor should our fans be scared. I ain't scared. We'll worry about injuries, etc if and when they happen.

I know I speak for most of the Rebelnation when I say

Bring it, and lets just see what happens.

I remember State fans thinking they were going to beat or play Bama close last year as well. They have only won two or three games since then.

The talent gap is way too large IMHO for Ole Miss to win this game. Ole Miss is coming off of their best recruiting class ever...and it was still not as good as Bama's class last year...or the previous 5 classes before that either.

However, Po Monk makes a solid point that Ole Miss literally has nothing to lose and can let it all hang out here. Moreover, I think he is correct in that Bama's roster is built to stop LSU, not the spread offense. Ole Miss may be a match-up issue for Bama...but that remains to be seen.

The freshman for OM are playing amazingly well. It will be interesting to see how they respond in Bryant-Denny. That stadium and fan base have a curious way of intimidating teams. I spoke with someone closely affiliated with State last year about their game in Bryant Denny. State was undefeated, playing with a ton of confidence and had a great week of practice leading up to the game. I asked this gentlemen (who was with the team) when he knew State was going to lose. He said as soon as they got off the bus at the stadium. He said you could quite literally see the intimidation on the faces of the players.

If you look at it head to head, I cannot think of one area in which Ole Miss is better than Bama. The Ole Miss defensive front against the Bama offensive line may be a push, but that is probably it. The Ole Miss receivers and the Bama secondary may be close to a push as well.

It will be interesting early but I still stick with my prediction that Bama wins pretty comfortably.

Bar fight with Bama coming out on top due to sheer weight of talent, home field advantage, and tradition

I know this---OM went in there last year with less than 60 scholarship players in Freeze's 5th game ever as OM coach and didn't play scared - and that was against the best Bama team Saban has put on the field - this years Bama team is not as good as last years----they didn't play scared in front of the crazy-loud LSU fans last year with the same players.....those two stadiums are as tough as it gets to play anywhere.

I really think it'll be a good game - Bama wins but it will be fun to watch.

Bama wins easily. Bama went into this game last year over looking Ole Miss and playing with no intensity and still won by two touchdowns. Everybody questioned Bama's offense after the first game and praised the defense. Now everyone is praising the offense and questioning the defense. I think the defense comes in with a chip on its shoulder looking to make a statement which is not good for Ole Miss. Bama is just too good and has already proven it can win any type of game in many different ways. This Bama team is still pretty young overall and will get better with every game.

Only disagreement I have is the win easily part----I just think it'll be a good game.....most folks predicted Bama would blow A&M out - that Manziel wouldn't make it out of the 1st quarter because of how pissed Bama was about last year - if A&M had any semblance of a defense, they win that game.....I agree that Bama will be tougher as the year goes on because they are young - good to catch them fairly early.

If anyone could ever to McCarron he would get rattled----he's not used to being touched whatsoever but he doesn't have the same dominant O-line that he's had before....it'll be an interesting game----not starting some "we believe" $#!+ or anything, that's for sure......I do think going into The Swamp and beating #3 Florida in 2008 would be a bigger upset than beating Bama in Tuscaloosa this year, even though Bama is #1....

How many points does bama need to win by to avoid an Ole Miss moral victory?

Enough to cover the point spread.
