We have one that was already made, but don't remember where we got it. It's a 12" Nylon lead.
This is the Alligator Clip I mentioned - it's actually called a 3/4" Flat-eye Lock-Jaw Snap........
.....available @ Gundog Supply. $13.95 plus S/H. Not many folks carry these clips in stock.
We made a 'back-up' lead - pretty easy to do with some imagination and enginuity. I imagine if you send a diagrahm of what you want to somebody at Gundog, they'll special-make you one. It's worth a try, anyway.

Thank you! I have an old lead that I was going to try and rig up, but I haven't been able to find that alligator snap anywhere. I want to be able to have a quick release on the dog and the regular snap to secure it to the blind, etc. That is exactly what I was looking for. I even caught myself in Gun Dog Supply over in Starkville last season asking one of the girls about it. I guess I didn't describe it well enough for her to know what I was looking for. Thanks again!

ransco33,
I see your in Greenwood. I have picked these Alligator Snaps up in either Ace hardware on Park, or at HomeFront. Can't remember which one it was.
I have also made a few leads for friends and such with this "Trigger Snap" on it. Not quite as "fast" on the release, but still quite good. And I know both places had it.
other options are the Panic, Twist, or the German Scissor snaps. What ever you get, get solid brass. It will outlast you both. They are pretty easy to find on the net with the right name.

This year when we hunted up North in layout blinds I forgot my lead. I had an alligator clip on a leather lead so I took it off and used a heavy duty zip-tie with the clip. That worked great since you could adjust it easy.

Thanks Teul, I'll run over to Ace one day this week and see what I can find. If not, I found them on Gun Dog Supply, so I'll just order from there, along with the rivets to finish out the lead/tie-down how I want it.
I appreciate the help guys. I knew it could be done, I just wasn't looking in the right direction I don't guess.
