didn't see UCI beating Texas. and of course Vandy stays hot.
elimination game one set up- ULL vs TX
I think Vandy is in the drivers seat for their bracket. throwing Beade tomorrow. barring a melt down i think they will be 2-0.

Blowing in yesterday. They screwed up designing that stadium to face downtown Omaha. It's facing south so the wind always blows in.

Can't pitch to their best hitter there with first base open.

Especially with the guy behind him being hitless on the night.

McCarthy had a hit and RBI in the fifth. I don't disagree with pitching to Papi, just don't groove one down main street for him.

I woulda beaned Papi rather than pitch to him with first base open, but then you don't win games with one base hit, either. Rebs made solid contact all night but right at somebody. Cavs hit our pitching well, but we had some really good defensive play to keep them from scoring more.
Either way, it was a fun game to watch.

Bonehead decisions like that is just why Bianco finally made it to Omaha. He finally overcame that in the past two weekends. You want to pitch to Papi, fine. But you've got FIVE lefties in the bullpen. Go left on left and go at him with sliders away. When Greenwood released the pitch, I hollered out ballgame in the bar. You cannot throw a fastball there, regardless, especially with 1st base open.

And in other news, the Ole Miss beat writer for the CL scheduled a family vacation to Disney World on the same week as the CWS. I find that to be hilarious.

I did not think they would pitch to him. You can always second guess a call after the fact, but this was a clear case of what not to do.
Virginia was locked on. They should have scored some more runs and I kept saying UM was going to win the game because UV had not taken advantage of their opportunities. Ellis did not have his best stuff and still managed to hold them to one run. The UV pitcher had good stuff. I saw few hard hit balls myself by the Rebels. That first game was going to be huge either way for the Rebels. Will Allen doing a good job of running that team. Doubt they are where they are without him. Regardless the Rebels are in a hole now and very few dig out of a 0-1 start in Omaha. Think I saw where 3 teams have done it in 33 years or something like that. Going to be hot Tuesday afternoon. We have had nice spring weather up until now. Expect it will be mid-90s in Omaha tomorrow afternoon. Could be a battle of who comes out wanting to play in the heat/humidity. Errors always show up in Omaha and I would expect some tomorrow.

second guess pitch or not pitch, but bottom line, they whipped our ass. we had one hit all game. you don't win games with one hit. birdy or whatever was lights out. Ellis pitched well enough and that's all you can ask, defensively we played okay. lets get a W tuesday and move on.
louisville/ texas will be fun to watch today.

The game last night had a rarity ............. the wind was blowing out. If it's blowing in like 95% of the time, Bousfield gets to that ball. Now on the other hand, that ball in another other park in the country is GONE.
