Was told by a guy in the know. Nov 27th(Thanksgiving day) - Jan 25 No splits. Youth hunts Nov 22 & Jan 31.

I believe that this is correct, and again, if my aging memory serves me right, there is a maximum number of allowed splits, but no required minimum. I guess that we shall soon see what the Commission decides. A Thanksgiving opening day is fine with me, as would be an opener coinciding with the opener of deer gun season.

the Saturday nearest September 24
(September 22) and January 31. There is
no possession limit for light geese.

The season "may" be split into three segments. Which means it could run straight through.

I know the Arkansas hunters don't like it, but my preference would be an opener on the Saturday and Sunday before Thanksgiving (which would give us an additional weekend), then a closure until the following Saturday, then straight through to January 25. That schedule equals 60 days.

Another structure would be open the weekend before Thanksgiving; close until the following Friday through Sunday; a couple of days' closure the following week, then straight through to the end.
