homy or homer whatever, that has got to be the most idiotic statement ive ever heard. You must have never taken a mature whitetail w bow because anybody that has will honestly tell you that anywhere you hunt whether it is a guided hunt or done yourself it is a great acomplishment. So is taking a limit of ducks its all in what your personal preference is.

Actually....slappin' one on his booty is a great accomplishment.......anybody can get good enough to 'gig' one........but to sneak-up close enough to one to 'tag' him is a real challenge. I've touched 2 live deer in the wild before they knew I was there.......'had my belt out and was fixin' to put it around it's neck (don't ask me what I was thinkin'), when it turned around and saw my hands coming-up over the log it was bedded-down next to. 'Kinda glad it didn't let me get the belt around her neck........man, what a wild ride that woulda been, huh?
(HUH??)
What!......'ain't you ever heard o' 'catch and release'?
An even greater accomplishment is to have one in your sights, knowin' he's yours........and you let him go.

Anatidae, I remember seeing you on the Mississippi Outdoors TV program, that was the maximum stalk ever on video.
I have my P & Y Woodland Caribou on the wall in my office; it is a steady reminder of manhood, this animal is far superior to a whitetail.

Yeah, Hardin........those caribou can be some real challenging game, huh?
Yeah, that stalk on the doe bedded-down, was one of my most memorable experiences in the woods...too bad I blew it.
I just couldn't figure-out how to get-up on my knees from a crawl position. I was on my stomach and was watching the tips of her ears just above the log we were laying on opposite sides of. When they turned brown, I moved......when they turned white, I froze. I made the mistake of getting too close and not knowing what to do next. I knew I could reach over the log an touch her, but for some reason that just didn't seem good enough. So, I pulled my belt off (took me about 20 minutes to do that) and was in the process of raising up to lunge over the log and my elbow touched a loose piece o' bark......and she heard it. That was as close to a deer's eyes that I've ever been.......'bout 18"......'bout as close as I care to BE, to one that lively........'like to scared us BOTH to death! 'Course she didn't waste any time getting outa there and covered me with dirt and leaves as she left.

I didn't quite get a hand on her.....otherwise I woulda been able to claim 3 touches on live deer.

Deer hunting bores me out of my mind. It's boring. Sitting in a tree, short of reading a good book, all I can do is think about productive things I should be doing instead. It was exciting when I was young too, the prospect of getting a deer with antlers so big everyone was green with envy, but now i hunt afternoons only (mornings are for ducks), shoot the first mature deer that walks up and put hamburger in the freezer. Fifteen years ago worked on a ranch in S Texas and shot about 200 antlerless deer in two hunting seasons pursuant to boss's orders. Was nothing to see a dozen 140 class bucks in a day, and rattled in several "shooters" (biggest gross scored in the high 180s) for clients. Whooped dee do. To each his own. Between that and seeing Anatidaes stalking videos, the thrill was pretty much gone.

Is this the Brad Russell that used to work at W.P.? If it is, then you should be able to figure out who I am.
