Most "youth" guns have a 12.5" length of pull as opposed to a full sized adult model of 13.5" length of pull. The youth guns with 12.5" length of pulls are really designed for kids 12 and up. At about that age they are able to properly handle a "youth" gun.
The mossberg 410 above has an adjustable Length of Pull 10.5" to 11.5" and is really designed for kids less than 12. However, the smaller the gun, the lighter it is, so a 20 gauge in this size would pack a whollup on a little kid.. The 410 is the best option to start with.

I just held one of those in my hand at The Sportsman in Greenville. They are nice little .410's. They come in black and camo. The black one is $320 there. Camo is either $350 or $360. I think I might get one for my 7 year old and let my younger one use it to when I get the one that is 7 now a .20 guage.

The black one would be $330.00 plus tax on my end..
