Try your local craft shop.....need emerald green and a dust mask....flour sifter works best for applying flocking.

Thanks. I've always thought G&H decoys with flocked heads would be the perfect decoy.

There is another outfit called flow flocked-they sell kits. A home flocking job on some G&H mallards would be the deal. Looks like you can do about 3 dozen (drakes) for $15 bucks.

my old boss (RIP) used to make me scrub 17 dozen every year before duck season. Then I had to re-do weights and strings. Never minded scrubbing and doing the work until the topwaters came and tangled them all up, got everything covered in mud and knotted the ties to the decoy bags.

I hang mine up (tx rigged) spray with simple green and let it sit for about ten minutes then spray off with hose. That ms river mud is a pain in the booty. And no never do you want a shiny decoy thats dumb

You boys be sure to cover up with all this flocking going on. Don't want anybody catching something you can't wash off.

Give or take if you are just wanting to do the heads. I was going to do the heads, breast and areas with black. It's a fairly easy process from every DIY flocking tip I seen or read. Most folks buy krylon black oil paint and the flock sticks to that as well as anything else. 2 coats is preferred.

I hunted of the higdon battleship decoys this past weekend with the flocked heads, and it really is impressive what a difference flocked heads makes when that sun hits them. A greenhead landed and swamp next to one and they really do look extremely realistic.

Clean decoys with water and light scrub brush, as Anat said.

If you want to do something to bring the paint back to life, but will not shine, then use a rag and apply a very light coat of vegetable oil on the decoy, rubbing it in good with the rag. The light coat will dry and not be shiny, and the decoy will not be slick or slippery.
