You're right...Freeze is a farce, the inmates are running the ship at Ole Miss and just keep recruiting more and more with every commitment...lid is gonna blow soon enough...the craziest part, EVERYBODY is in the dark except some State fans that actually have it all figured out about the outlaws up North.

Yeah, they tried to paint Dillon Day as a thug as well when he was just being a nimble 300lb lineman....

It seems that Ole Miss, LSU and Auburn have been the resident leaders in second chances in the SEC for JUCO and defamed athletes. It has worked well in some instances, and not so well in others, but it is what it is in the grand scheme of things.

I will say this, Kelly gives Ole Miss a big leg up on State if Dak decides to head to the NFL, as many suspect will be the case. He has said he would go if projected in Top 2 rounds. He is projected by some to be a Top 2 round prospect right now because it is such a weak year for QBs.

From what I've seen he's a Helluva musical talent.

Kelly may be a hot head with a bad attitude but so is Bo Wallace. How many times have we seen wallace get up in a teammates grill or run his mouth on the sideline or push an opposing player on the field out of frustration. Bo aint no choir boy and hes worked out just fine. Hey if he gets too rowdy and starts pushing coaches etc etc then he loses his scholarship and his future Its up to him hero or zero. I will take him.

so was Brett Favre, so is Phillip Rivers, etc. He'll be fine, if he ain't he'll make his own bed. At this point, it really is about winning. Not about hurt feelings and fairness, you get the best you can and win as many as you can...and you hope your leadership doesn't let them have negative effect on the program if they have character flaws. I'd rather win with an "turd-cutter" than lose with a squad of church boys.

I think the moral high ground that is being taken by the anti-Ole Miss crowd on this Kelly issue is rooted in:
(1) Fear and recognition that he will be really good at Ole Miss with the weapons they have on offense; and
(2) calling out Hugh Freeze, who portrays himself to be above reproach, yet appears to be throwing his current QBs under the bus and bringing in a known bad boy (a similar move for Masoli ushered in the beginning of the end for Houston Nutt).

In the end, Cam is right. Hugh Freeze is paid to win. Moreover, Freeze probably looks at Kelly as a moral project and believes that he can potentially be a Godly influence in his life and hopefully change it for the better. I certainly hope that will be the case and that we see a true conversion with this kid and success on the field as well. We shall see.

I believe Freeze is an honest man, I believe he is strong in his Christianity and morals. I don't think that b/c he gave two QB's two years to be the heir to a starting job and neither have shown that progression, that it's absolutely any mark on his Christianity or integrity or anything else that he signs another QB to come compete. He is paid to win, and he's given the current players a free education and plenty of opportunity for two years...and will continue to give those opportunities next season if they stay. He's not obligated to let them play, he's obligated to do what he feels in in best interest of this team. That is obviously to bring in more talent at QB for next season. If Chad Kelly had a record I'd be more hesitant, but being an arrogant and hot headed 18 year old is far from reason to label the kid or think he can't learn from mistakes and be a good kid in the program as he's matured....I don't think Freeze sees Kelly as a moral project, I think he sees his entire calling in life as a leader of young men and a moral project. I think he sees Kelly as an upgrade in talent and he's done whatever homework he can do on him and believes he'll act right and do his job...just like every kid they recruit including some from shady neighborhoods etc that EVERY program has, and if he doesn't I'm sure Kelly knows the repercussions. I'd bet Chad Kelly incident list is shorter than most the young mean on most rosters from lesser upbringings, we just don't know them cause they weren't previously the nephew of a hall of famer and QB at a major D1 program! I'll come right out and say it, if you think many of the black kids on Ole Miss, MSU, LSU, etc rosters haven't been just as shady, just as untrustworthy, just as close to real trouble as Kelly was with his temper...yet your school has em on scholarship anyway...then your naive as hell!

I don't know much about the guy, but haven't seen anything on him that would make me steer clear of him. Like someone else said, im sure he knows this is his last chance and if he screws this up it wont matter what kind of ego he has because he can tell everyone how great he was while they are in the checkout line a walmart. On the other hand, if he has matured any, and he probably has, then us State fans are probably butthurt a little because he could become a legitimate threat to us for the next two years.

Remember this too though, he hasn't proven himself in the SEC. He could be just a big a bust as Jevan Snead in the end. Who knows, if he has major attitude issues then he might never start any way. Attitude goes a long way in how people prepare, workout, and lead a team and if he thinks he can just walk in and be a star in the SEC like he was in Juco then his flame will be short lived anyway. I think we get in too much of a hurry with all these young men with what we think they can do or not do until they step on a playing field at this level.

He will not be a bust. He is better than Wallace and Wallace owns most of the Ole Miss record book (and Ole Miss has a couple of Mannings in that book). I think he will be a Top Tier SEC QB.

It was a solid move by Freeze...a move I wish LSU would have attempted to make.

Right. I would bet a large sum of money that there are numerous Division II QBs in the same region that are much better than either of the two current LSU QBs.

I think Harris has "talent" but it's certainly unknown what's gonna happen with his development.

Jennings isn't an SEC caliber QB in my worthless opinion
