I agree with Josh and Chip.

It really helps if you can be out there everyday to 'keep-up with the birds' and see what they do from day to day.....primarily because conditions change pretty quickly around ice events.

I love this time of year.

^ This if you can do it. If you're like many of us and the pesky work thing keeps getting in the way, go when you can and stay as long as you can.

Sun up to 4pm is 8 hours in a blind... Your friends are either crazy or have a bad home life to go back to. I would be stiffer than a 2x4.

You either (A) don't dress well enough, (B) need to invest in a heater or some hot hands, (C) just aren't mad enough at the birds, or (D) don't have as much fun hunting as I do. I LOVE making a day out of hunting when it's slow. Order pizza or get a wife / friend to deliver lunch to the truck, and hang out all day bs-ing with my good friends. Some of my most memorable hunts didn't end in limits and lasted a LONG time.
And my home life is just fine.

Agreed, however when it's a 1.5 hour drive to the spot every morning my wife ain't making that drive to bring me no sammich!!!
