Problems with winchester super X2?
There are a few differences between the X2 and the Gold. The X2 is redesigned to make it more simple and it does not have the chamber cut off or the "speed load" feature. Some of the parts will interchange, but not all of them. They used to be made side by side in the same plants. I am not sure if they still are or not.

Had mine 3 years the only thing is some times it will not drop the shell out of the magazine. But this is not often. Any suggestions on this? Great gun.

Shoot'em in the Lips!
had some problems with mine locking up in 9 degree weather, it would only shoot the first shell, then i had to push the operating pin for it to load the next shell, the the other day the operating pin broke off and i was lucky to have my leatherman handy tool with me so i could load it, got that fixed and we're rock'n along now, i love mine, prolly need to clean it more though. lab-dog

I have a Browning Gold that did the same thing to me the other day......I asked some people and they said that it was probably just a bum shell....it has not happened since...caller1 wrote:Got mine around 99-2000. Have enjoyed the gun, but it has a problem now with barely hitting the primer and not firing the shell. Been shot ALOT through 4-5 dove season, alot of skeet shoots, duck hunting, goose hunting..... Any help with this situation woulfdd be appreciated.

I've had mine two years and love it. For those of you interested in putting a precision fit sims recoil pad on one, I altered the one for a Browning Gold wood stock and it fits great. You just have to work with it a little and notch the plastic spacer so the head of the screws slide through the spacer.

I've got a Gold hunter 3 1/2 and it is out of comission for the season. It does something different every time I shoot it. One time it will kick out the shell and not force the next one all the way into the chamber, sometimes it won't eject them but about half way and will jam up. It's got a mind of it's own I guess. I tried everything I know, and it's still funked up. I've always kept it pretty clean, so I don't know what's causing all the comotion. I sent it back to browning and they said I would see it back in about 8 WEEKS!! So, I went and bought an 870, figure I can't go wrong there, now i'm thinking I should have bought an 870 to begin with, it would have been a hell of a lot cheaper!
i'd be weary of the gun just cause its the "cousin" of the browning gold...
greenheadman1.. i feel your pain.. you just described my experiences to a tee.... man that gun.. was a lemon. i got so frustrated with that browining gold that i ended up sending it to a gun show and traded "strait-up" for a Charles Daly 3 1/2" pump shotgun..
if defense of the super x 2, i've never heard that many negative comments on the performance of said gun..
Ya know it just pizzes me off when i think about that "gold" ... seriously. browning really owes me a refund or something...
also someone mentioned earlier that the best way to inquire about a particuilar gun is to ask for negative feedback.. again I say that i've never heard negative talk about the super x 2. buuuttttt... its cousin the gold. wheewwww!!! damn i mean seriously for every person that would get on this here board and defend the gold as a good shotgun. heck theres twice that many people that would get on here and describe the prolems that greenheadman1 and myself have had..
good luck with your purchase.
p.s. i just got a remington model 11-87 s.p.
i luv it so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
damn i hope i didn't just jinx that gun

Heck, I got over 40,000 rounds through my ugly old camo BGH, 3.5's,3", 2.75", icestorms, snowstorms, couple weeks in South Dakota hunting in single digits all day. No problems. It has won 2 divisions in the Mississippi Sporting Clays Championship, and one at the Zone. Pretty reliable. I have 3 others I got as backups or for my wife that I have never needed. With a few exceptions (broken firing pins) every one I have seen act up has been filthy. Clean that beast and go kill some ducks!

I've had the same problem with my Gold 3-1/2". Sometimes it doesn't want to chamber the 2nd shell all the way. I've cleaned it several times good and changed the action spirng and still have the same problem. It will sometimes not chamber the 1st shell in through the speed load without stopping about half way and I have to push the pin to get it to go on in. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten rid of the extrema. Just didn't like the long receiver on it. Otherwis it was dang good gun. Got another gold 3" and never had any problem with it.
