RebelYelp wrote:both qb's made mistakes, lane should have thrown the ball away, spurlock should have run out of bounds better, but he wouldn't have made the 1st down anyway so it's a moot point, he had 3 defenders bearing down on him.... Lane's problem has not been leadership or being tough, it's been his ability, or lack thereof, to pass, he has shown improvement in practice this year, but still leaves alot to be desired most of the time, hopefully he'll step up his game.
camlock, you use the same sn on rivals ?? you know what i'm talking about with all this, i'm probably preaching to the choir by stating where lane's inabilities have been.
Yeah, I'm on Rivals too...I think I have a 4 (camlock4) on there...I agree Lane has his faults, and they gotta be smoothed out for him to succeed, but I think they can. And I am not anti-Spurlock...I hate it for him, he was showing lots of improvement and promise..but no matter what he does, he's now only got part of a season left and still needs to improve...Lane has 3 years and in my eyes he is just as good now as Spurlock...sucks for Spurlock, but given the situation, time to do it for the team...or we will be in the same QB spot next season...nobody to know what to do and several that need to learn...that'll put us 3 years behind the 8-ball and in the league with State program as of late...
And I ain't bashing State, but you've lost 8 games 3 years in a row, it's fact and it has hurt your program....just how it is...we are looking at the same fate if things don't turn around...

Whatever dude...he wasn't gonna make the first down. This is Spurlock's team. Ask ANYBODY on the Ole Miss football team whose offense this is and who they want taking the snaps.
Doesn't matter how "high pressure" the situation was. Lane's a backup. If a backup wants to start, he has to come in and perform. Period. Doesn't matter what the situation is. Come in and perform. Hasn't been doing it in practice. Didn't do it in the Memphis game. Didn't do it in the Vandy game. That last play was bush league.
If he gets the start, I'm behind him. But if Spurlock can play, he needs to play.

mike can't play.... it's a week to week deal, but it's already been decided that he will not play this week unless something drastic happens... same for willis, only he's expected to be out longer

I figured Ole Miss would start that tall goofy Jerry Cooney looking quarterback.
