Now, if I wanted to really be "disrespectful", I would take a whizz on the statue of The Bear at the campus museum, or take a dump in Toomer's corner (at least there would be plenty of TP available).

Well I don't remember that point of the game. But if the guy was out of bounds it's not like anybody could see them. I know I coudn't

Po Monkey Lounger wrote:I have never seen as such whiny visiting fans as Auburn and Alabama fans. They complain about everything and are so, so sensitive. How they ever manage to go to places like LSU, Florida, MSU and make it out with their sanity is unbelievable to me. Last year, there were Auburn fans making a big deal out of some young children chanting hotty toddy at the game, another was coming unglued that someone shot him the bird, and several others were complaining about the service they got at a waffle house in Tupelo on the way home.

And lets not even get started on the cheering during the Auburn alma mater deal a few years ago, just before UM won that game. Everytime Ole Miss comes even close to winning or does win the games, these fans will find some trivial thing to isolate and complain about ---most likely a defensive mechanism ---in other words, although our football team did not whip you bad enough to fuel my huge ego and sense of superiority, I will now beat your school and fans down personally to make myself feel better.
Good grief, it is a football game. Lighten up will ya. The guy walked off the field with some assistance. Well before the student -led hotty toddy, it was obvious he was not in a life threatening condition. He just fell awkwardly and got the breath knocked out of him and bruised his chest. He later went back in to the game in the second half. It was a looong break in the action, expecially for fired up and restless students, many of whom probably did not even realize anyone was still down.
Whether it is cowbells at MSU, the cannon at UM, hotty toddy, the Dogpound Rock on the field, or anything else that might be fun for the MS schools and a little obnoxious, you can count on an Alabama school leading the charge to get rid of it.

Never mind the fact that we have to put up with that obnoxiously loud elephant noise in Tuscaloosa, or the incessantly loud "THIS IS ALABAMA FOOTBALL" over the loudspeaker, or the lack of anything fun or exciting in Auburn, it is necessary that we endure the annual crying of the Alabama schools over anything that does not suit their fancy.
More Cowbell please.
can anyone say hypocrit.
also i like how rebelyelp said that the cheer started before yall knew he was hurt and you say it happened way after he got off the field, seems like ole miss fans are the ones getting all testy about this trying to hide something

I was sitting in the student section.... as soon as we saw the ref. waves his arms for incomplete we heard ARE YOU READY and we started the cheer....... I assumed this was the one you were talking about, i don't remember doing one while he was on the ground, but i can also say that i'm the only one who noticed him being injured out of all the people around me. People were cussing the tv time outs and i had to tell them (mottlet) that there was a man down. you're saying i'm being testy because i was accused of being disrespectful to an injured player even though we applauded when he got up and walked..... sheesh, i want some of that stuff you're smoking if you're gonna accuse someone of doing something and then not expect them defend themself.

I still think you're being a whiner.
IT was too funny how most of the Alabama fans at the game rose to their feet in protest as the hotty toddy cheer rang out from the student section ---- looked like a thousand or so "cheer police" simultaneously pointing fingers and letting the students know their opinion of proper game etiquette.

SSSShhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Someone's still down on the field. Be vewy, vewy quiiiieeetttt.
Good grief, he just got his bell rung.

And yes, my observations of fan behavior over many, many years of watching SEC football have led me to the conclusion that football fans from the state of Alabama are, in general, very sensitive and uptight. If other fans do not behave in a fashion that they deem appropriate, they have a tendency to be very critical.
That mountain out of a molehill made about Ole Miss fans cheering during the Auburn alma mater a few years ago was a prime example. The accidental UM student cheer with the Bama player still down and the big deal being made of it by the person who started this thread (and the Tide fans at the game) are yet another prime example. And if you are still not convinced, just go to any Bama or Auburn message board after a game with Ole Miss, MSU, or any other school, and a large portion of the threads are negative criticism of the behavior of the other school's fans, their school, their stadium, etc. IT is as if they go to a game and start making a checklist to bitch about afterward.
