I am serious about the dog license statement. Check it out!!! It only costs about $5 last I heard, but you must have one.

Be careful about handling your dog. This might be considered aiding the hunt or some bullschit and you'll need a license. I was gonna meet my dad in Virginia last May for some turkey hunting. When I found out the price for a license, I decided I would just call for him. Nope, that would have been aiding in the hunt, so I needed to get a license. So I went trout fishing instead.

Anyway, I'm not making this up, so look into it.

Caller 1 your right about Joe. He wrote my wife a ticket about 15 years ago. She did'nt have a gun or shells but wanted to go with me just to see why I would wake up at 3.30 to go duck hunting. Well we beat it in court and my wife has never wanted to go again.

In my opinion that is just an "turd-cutter" of a gamewarden on a powertrip and it seems to me that it would not be too hard to beat a ticket in court just as you did, but that being said it takes time and it is just a hassle.

I went to the MDWF&P's website, and asked this question:
"Do i need a hunting license if i am with a group that is hunting ducks, but i am not hunting or carrying a gun -- i am simply there to take pictures and run my dog???"

This was the response I just got:
"You would not be required to have a license unless you are participating in the hunt. Calling or sending your retriever out for down ducks would be considered participating. You would not need a license to film the hunt."

Gulfcoast is correct..... as far as the fine, in Ms. you will pay the fine plus court cost plus the amount of the license that you did not have for the hunting you were engaged in....

Why not let your buddies pay for your license and let them shoot your ducks. Doesn't sound like you care to shoot 'em

The dog license is not required any longer in Arkansas. Probably been a little over 5 years since they stopped that nonsense.

Non-hunters do not need license.

The first question a game warden is trained to ask is "have you been huntin"
I always think it funny to say, oh not yet I just been scouting to see where I might launch my boat and then I'm going to go get a license before I go. It really screws up their method and if you have ducks you better be a good talker for lying.

Of course if you have no ducks, what can they do if they just stopped you on the road and really don't know.

I can't speak on AR law. My word doesn't carry much weight with AR game wardens. I would recommend calling AR and asking them. Don't forget to get the name of the person you talk to.

I'd get in in writing with a game wardons signature. They love to write up folks from out of state for the most knit picky of violations.
