I wouldn't waste my money on that duck unless it was either your first or you had just about everything else mounted. There as common as dirt. That is good eats on the grill.

That's a good looking gadwall drake. They do make nice mounts. The bird appears to be pretty mature but if it were my money, I would wait until I shot one that had more "fluff" on his head with those fat cheeks and a few more years on him. You'll get your chance at another I promise. They are common but then again - we often take "common" for granted. I'll shoot gadwall all day..that is IF they choose to cooperate and work. Study that bird's markings well so you can pick them out of the groups next time. Half the fun a duck hunting is spotting the drakes from multiple species and surgically removing them from the wad.

thats a gadwall. you can always tell because of the white patch on the wing. and widgeons have that too.
