For those of you paying at least a little attention to the media, this was all prefaced with "Iran is next on the list of nations to be conquered". WE get a hell of a lot of oil from Iran.... I see........ 4.25 gas if we even get close to the borders after during or before any tropical storm entering the gulf of mexico with at least 47 mph winds......

I have been supportive of Bush throughout this Iraq invasion, despite my better judgment. We need to stay the heck out of Iran. The main reason is we now try to fight in a politically correct fashion and as a result we don't get the right results. Iraq was initially a plan to rid us of a potentially serious problem or threat. To appease the media and the liberals, we now call it a humanitarian effort. Initially we figured we could recoup some costs of the war with Iraq oil only to find out their refineries are so out of date that it would take billions to get them functioning to meet our demands.

If we invade or attack Iran the ramifications will be horrible. $4.00 gas could very easily be the norm. Our best bet IMO is to let Israel take care of Iran. If we sanction Iran, first of all, it probably won't work, and second, the same threat will persist and we will suffer economically at the same time.

yeah gas is $2.80 already and expected to go to over $3.00 next week.

I read somewhere that there is enough oil in Canada to supply North America's oil needs for the next 50 years. The only problem is it is trapped in sand and the cost to extract it was to high. In the last year or so that barrier has been broken and the infastructure is being built to begin extracting and refining that oil. It's going to take a few years, but, our dependance on the Middle East will ease. As the money flowing to the Middle East quits, so does their influence. Then we turn them into a glass parking lot.

I have also read that there are very large oil and natural gas deposits off the coast of Florida that are untapped as we speak because of a fear of ruining the beaches and what not. Apparently, there has not been the technology available to get to it until recent years as well. Point being, we can slowly pull away from middle eastern dependence on oil.

The corn-based fuel would be great for duck hunters in the long run.

We be using a naturally renewable fuel which we produce. If corn prices go up, you'll see more farmers growing corn on our end of the flyway instead of just miles and miles of slash pine plantations. This could go along way to improve habitat.

Plus an ethanol refinery would really improve the mississippi economy. Gov. barbour just backed a 880 million dollar steel mill in the golden triangle, I bet he'd love to create even more high quality jobs to replace those lost by the hurricane.

Ironically Castro is about to start drilling about 45 miles off the coast of Florida. So I have heard. Wouldn't that be a kick in the pills?!?!?!

I doubt the US will allow Cuba (or any other country) to drill for oil 45 miles off the coast of Florida without explicit permission. If cuba or china try to pull a stunt like that they will see what a US navy cruise-missle can do to an oil rig.
