Govan didn't have a grade problem. He was one point short on his ACT. This UM recruit has a grade and an ACT problem.

And just for the record, I am not a MSU booster. They got enough money from me for 3 yrs. As for the privacy issue, not really "private" when grades are left out in the wide open for anybody to look at.

And y'll are jumping my booty about posting this, saying that it's useless internet cluster and such and such. Well, last time I checked this board was as dead as my sex life, so I decided to fire this beyotch up.

Now, KMA !!!

Schaeffer's arrival at Ole Miss delayed
By Robbie Neiswanger
rneiswanger@clarionledger.com

OXFORD — Ole Miss quarterback signee Brent Schaeffer will not be on campus until the end of July at the earliest, his mother said today.

Schaeffer, who was named the Rebels’ starting quarterback on national signing day, is at home in South Florida finishing his junior college coursework to become eligible at Ole Miss.

Chandra Schaeffer said her son must complete six hours of correspondence courses before he can enroll at Ole Miss. She said her son should finish in time to be eligible to play this fall.

“He wanted to get there sooner, I’m sure,” Chandra Schaeffer said. “He kind of had to get two years worth of work done in a year. “It was a lot of work.”

Schaeffer played last year for the College of the Sequoias, a two-year school in Visalia, Calif. In 2004, he started several games as a freshman for Tennessee.

Last month, Chandra Schaeffer said her son had completed junior college classes and was planning to be in Oxford at the beginning of July, for the start of the second summer school session.

Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron said that was his target date for Schaeffer’s arrival, too. Coaches prefer incoming players to be on campus during the summer to become acclimated to the surroundings and get to know their teammates.

Over the past two weeks, Orgeron has not returned repeated messages requesting an interview regarding Schaeffer.

Practice begins in early August and the Rebels’ first game is Sept. 3 at home against Memphis.

o.k whatever.. rebs fans defend this guy all you want.. i've just got one f'n question?? why in the hell was schaffer named the starting q.b immedialty when he signed..

this doesn't make any f'n sense to me and... futhermore... is this fair to the other kids in the program who are also competing for the q.b position??

why should this kid be entitled?? why shouldn't he have to come in and earn the position?? what happend to the days of working hard in practice??

maybe when you know you're not the big dog... it motivates you to be the big dog.....

and GH22..... it said he planned to enroll, it didnt' say he would enroll, the coaches have said for months now that he would be here 2nd semester of summer school...

rebelyelp..

i got to thinking about what you said.. maybe when you know you aint the big dog it motivates you to be the big dog..

... thats f'd up dude.. you never played sports did ya??

actually yes i did, all the way through senior year of high school .... after reading what i wrote, it came across differently from how i meant for it to....

Lots of times if you're not the starter, it motivates you to work harder, or if you're the # 2 man and you wanna be the # 1, you'll bust your butt to get there... that's all i was saying... competition helps that, and there was a TON of competition at the qb position this past spring,

now, as to schaeffer being labeled as the starter... when he signed, he was better than anyone on campus... whats so difficult about that ?? he knows he's the man

come no now bigwater, accusing me of not playing sports is a little uncalled for, even for a bulldog don't you think ?

rebelyelp...

i'm just going by that big dog comment.. i mean schit..

that big dog quote is f'd up.. i understand what you saying about the #2 guy busting his booty to get better..

think about the big dog thing like this.. lets say you were a backup quarterback in high school.. maybe your a junior and theres a senior that got to play ahead of you.. now its your summer before your senior year. and your competing for the starting job.. then this new kid who is also a q.b transfers from another school.. this new kid is suppose to be good..

how would you feel if the coach named the new kid the starter before practice started.. sure the new kid might be the better athlete and all that.. but don't you think that would be a bit unfair.. don't you think the new kid should come in and earn the job..

i don't seem to understand the entiltment that schaffer has been given... does he nor put his pants on one leg at a time??

how many other examples can you find of quaterbacks who are listed on the pre-season depth chart as #1; without ever having practiced at the school..

lastly who were the quaterbacks that ran the offenses during the spring game.. if you were too ask them their thougts on b.s. being named automatic starter,, what do think they might say.. i wouldn't think much of'em if they just said it doesn't bother me.. oh yea he deserves it cause he's b.s. ... bullschit is what i'd be like.. i'd say he bring him in here at lets decide this number 1 issue on the practice field..

hell eli frakin manning the greatest q.b ever in the history of um wasn't afforded this luxury..

rebelyelp.. i'm sure b.s. is more talented that the other q.b.'s on the roster.. but its principle of the matter that i'm trying to get you to understand..

that is scary

Under "normal" circumstances, I would agree with Bigwater that such a proclamation would be unwise, premature, and could cause dissention on a team. However, unfortunately for Reb fans, we did not have normal circumstances. Spurlock graduated and his eligibility was exhausted. Flatt graduated and decided to forego his last year of eligibility. Lane, so far, has been a bust at QB, but has likely found a new home at TE for the next two seasons that could propel him to stardom. That left a redshirt frosh at QB who had only scout team snaps in the stable, going into signing day in Feb.

Orgeron needed a QB in the worst way. Shaeffer wanted to go to a situation where he had a pretty sure opportunity to play. A match made in heaven, provided he meets UM eligibility requirements by fall camp. We likely would not have signed Shaeffer without a commitment to name him the man to beat. And given what we had at the time, such was not a stretch. And since Shaeffer had more division one snaps than anyone we had on campus, and anyone we have added since, naming him the starter before he even arrives is not as shocking as it might appear on the surface, and in a sense is indeed fair.

We later added a couple of walkons at QB, and they all competed in the spring, with the understanding that they would most likely be competing for the backup QB role. After spring, we added another walk on, Cliff Davis, who has been out of football a couple of years playing pro baseball in the minor leagues. Cliff's development could provide some interesting competition at this position.

The QB situation at UM is what it is. Very sketchy at best, at this point. Orgeron had to play the hand he was dealt at this position. (Much like Croom at MSU, who still does not have the type of QB he really wants and needs to run the west coast offense).

It is a situation that Oregeron has improved since last season and one that has "potential" to get much, much better. BUT, without experience, critical analysis pointing out a current weakness at this position cannot seriously be disputed.
