I think someone else said it best. Will a SBE help you kill more ducks than an 870? No. But will it make you look cool in the duck blind? You bet!

$ for $, there is no better buy than an 11-87. However, if you're interested in social status, go Italiano.

Remington has a new auto it is about 300 bucks at Bass pro during their fall sale going on right now. I havent heard any one that has used one but it is a Rem. Personally I shoot a Browning Gold and like it alot. If I were buying a new one thats what I would get. The cheapest option is a 870 and they will last forever, but they kick like a mule in comparison to the higher end guns. There is a dude on the classified section with a Gold 3.5 synthetic for about 600 if its in good shape you will not find a much better deal!

That's their new Spartan line of guns. They bought out EAA - Baikal Corp.

What about recoil reduction? Which guns other than Benelli have low recoil? I know it really doesn't matter when duck hunting but dove hunting and sporting clays can work on your shoulder.

I can verify that you need to invest in the recoil reducer for the Nova if you're shooting 3.5's.

You are probably right about the 3.5's. I only shoot 3 inch but I have heard horror stories about 3.5's and pump shotguns, especially with Turkey loads.

I recently bought a new Beretta Xtrema II this past spring, and tried many on the market before I bought....I have to say that I love my decision...I was close to buying the SBE II, but the Xtrema II was easier on the shoulder after just a few shots....it is definately the cadillac of guns....but if you are looking medium price and reliability, I would go with a 1187.....i'm actually thinking about buying one and just "having it"....

SBE 1. Love it. Shoulder all of them though. Tug on the butt and make sure tight. SBE2 butt fell off in the store. I thought I broke it and sales guy says it happens alot. That would really suck in the blind. Heard good things about the extrema.

This is like Ford's vs Chevy's, apples vs oranges.

I'd say the Beretta 390, until they came out with the 391 Urika.

I hate my Beretta Xtrema2 I love my SBE 1 and 2. I hear that remington has a new 11-87 3 1/2 for under 1000. Cant beat a remington for the price.
