Here's another good rule of thumb. If you want really good foodplots without all the guesswork of soil tests, liming, etc., just apply about 100 pounds of chicken $#!+(litter)per acre. It's got all the right ingredients built right in, and it's cheap as dirt.

Chicken Litter should be applied at about 2000# per acre to get any useful amount of P and K. It's main advantage is adding organic matter back to soil that is depleted. Their is a lot of research going on right now with chicken litter compared to commercial fertilizer. The cost of hauling and applying it not cost effective compared to commercial products.

I've already done the research......in the field, on my plots.
