The only UA that I have is some socks and they definately ain't "all that"

I am telling ya'll, try the patagonia capilene. I have midweight and expedition weight. Plenty of room where you need it, wicks moisture away, and most importantly warm. It also drys fast when it gets wet. They even make capilene whitey tighties... which I don't have.

Many, if not most wear this patagonia stuff to be fashionable I suppose. I have my fair share of hunting quad parkas and wading jackets all, but I find myself utilizing these outdoor products made by patagonia and similar companies more than my other high dollar stuff. I will put a camo shell over the coat or whatever. It is amazing how well it works. A lot of research goes into the design of these clothes.

I got one of those Northface fleece jackets that are all the rage on college campuses in black for Christmas two years ago and its one of the best hunting jackets I've ever had. Like you said, I usually just put a camo shell over it and go. I actually use it more for deer hunting because it gets too warm on most duck hunts. But it's perfect for the deer stand.

I agree with you guys about the "technical clothing"(patagonia, northface,etc) for hunting. Many times I will layer with it and just put a rainsuit top on over it. The thing that I like is that it is so versatile. You can wear it when it is mild b/c of the wicking and when it is cold b/c it insulates.

I like the under armor best but agree that Patagonia's mid and heavy weight are great (better than others in that same market) and long lasting. I'll be wearing under armour as base layer under expedition weight during a few upcoming trips.

The cold gear seems to keep me warm as along as I am walking around. It seems to feel cold on my skin when sitting on a stand .

If you are around Jackson, Memphis or Oxford there are places to buy the stuff off of the shelf. Jackson = Buffalo Peak, Oxford = the same and Hinton and Hinton, Memphis = Outdoors Inc. I believe.

I am going to have to agree with the outdoor performance clothes. I have a couple different types of the jackets, and the are every bit as warm as my parka.

I keep a lightweight fleece (marmot) and a light weight quick dry shirt (generic) with my travel duffle (hunting junk) all the time.

One name that shows up on both sides of that fence all the time, and over and over, is Columbia.

i use under armour and i love it but i also use the drake waterfowl systems guide bibs and those work great too....

That UA is good stuff..... Many companys have the same thing. [/b]The wicking, heat holding material is not unique to them!!!!! It is available in many styles & weights. Some, like the Winchester Brand are $10 a piece rather than 50-60.

UA won the Marketing war and now has the name recognition. People get what they are paying for. FOR THE BIG DOGZ it is so my UA mark can be seen.

Differnt strokes fer differnt folks.
