I shoot a Benelli and was told to shoot i/c choke tube with steel regardless of manufacturer due to steel shots inherent tight pattern characteristics.

My Browning Auto(2.75") only has a full choke on the factory barrel and I know it may be reamed out a bit but never had a problem with it yet!

A couple of years ago I switched form an 870 to a Benelli Nova, after 1/2 a season I sold it and went back to my 870. Those guns have a totally different feal and I could never get used to it. I did skeet shoot before the season and could never figure that gun out.

Hunter4life-
Was it the same lenth barrels, same choke and same shell you used with both guns? I used to shoot an 870 also but switche easily to a Benelli. If I remember, the vent ribs are also similiar. Maybe you should try an auto to improve your skeet scores. I used to rush my first shot in anticipation of shucking that first shell for the second shot. I might as well as thrown away the first shot cause I was always on on the second shot. When I switched to an auto, my score improved noticably. However I still miss that #8 house quite regularly

It doesn't really matter what choke you use, you can't hit anything anyway!!!! But it DOES make you look good shooting it! That's all that matters!!!!

1deadduck-

The grip and forearm was the part I could not get past. The 870's is much smaller and fit my hand much better.
I am hoping to get a winchester super x2, feels colse to the 870.

Hunter-
You never did say why you want to switch from an 870 to another pump gun. Seems to me, as long as the gun you shoot has double slide ejection bars, your probably better off with the Remington- especially for the money. The only reason I'm shooting a Benelli auto now is because I shot my 870 so long the pump action was so loose it was causing jams- plus all my buddies ragged me about my "ratchet gun". So, I decided to try a "walk on the wild side".

this was a good link...thanks a ton...I changed it to the improved modified this past weekend and low and behold, of all the MS River area to hunt, there was someone in our spot....we had to improvise in the dark and ended up in a gutter hole....didnt fire a shot....ill have to wait a few more weeks.....after comparing the two, looks as if the IM will be similar to the FC remington though...
