Guess the geese went through the jet turbine insta-plucker.

geese through the turbines are bad medicine. When I was flying, we ingested a flock of sparrows on landing and did about 90k worth of damage to the compressor. I also remember seeing a report of a seagull going throught the window of a learjet. Killed one of the pilots.

These and all pilots probably need to make note it may not be of great interest to fly at low levels in the Delta during waterfowl season.

I got more of the crash story while at the doctor's office, albeit 3rd hand info told to the doctor by the farmers. Seems some farmers were at a shop and saw the pilots eject and the jet go down. They drove out in the rice field to get one of the pilots and heard the other hollering for help. He was hanging in the trees in some nearby woods. He finally breaks loose from the canopy and they all try to catch him as he falls down. Said they were at 1500 feet, 190 knots and snow geese knocked off the canopy and the engines. The engines quit and they bailed.

most jets can handle a bird or two down the motors or hitting the windshields if the window heat is on.flocks of geese,birds or ducks will cause big problems.even seen some snows hit below windshields come into cockpit ,knock holes in leading edge of the wing on a 727.they made one heck of a mess and they were at 10,000 at night turning north over tunica heading twards mem.never saw them comming till they were in the cockpit with them.

A new way to take out some of them snow geese. I hope the MSDucks snow goose killing crew are not getting any ideas for Arkieland this year!

I plan on bringing one of those c130 Specters. Either gun em down or chop them up with the props.
