Good question. I don't think it matters as long as there is 1 licensed RESIDENT in the party supervising the kids.
Adult can carry the gun, of course, just don't shoot. Conservation order is closed this Saturday and Sunday.
Does the youth over the age of 12 have to have a Hunter safety card? I may be confused. I though they only had to have one if they hunted by themselves. Rob, could you clear that up for me.
There will be a day....

A child at least twelve (12) years of age and under (16) years of age may hunt without having the certificate of hunter education if the child is in the presence and under the direct supervision of a licensed or exempt resident hunter at least twenty-one (21) years of age
Thanks, Ducks be us.
I thought it was something like that. I don't have one old enough to worry about it yet, but I just did not want to tell a friend incorrectly.

Yep, you and he would be legal.
They changed the hunter ed rules last year.
If the kid is between 12 and 15 and hunts by himself, he has to have the card.
If he's between 12 and 15 and being supervised by a 21 year old MS resident (licensed or exempt), he doesn't have to have the card.
This allows kids who missed the class to go hunting as long as they are supervised.

Talk about making mountains out of mole hills....
0-11 has to be with adult.
12-15 supervised doesn't need hunter ed.
12-15 unsupervised has to have hunter ed.
16-64 needs hunter ed and license (born after Jan 1, 1972).
65+ resident needs nothing.
