I think that he was implying that it was a respect(or lack of) issue. I don't think that it actually ruined the guys hunt, but there is just a common courtesy issue here. If a couple of strangers drove out in the middle of your dove field and started shooting the breeze, would you be irritated? What's the difference? Of all the places that they could park and have a talk, they choose to park in the middle of the field?

agree, same thing with showing up late to a hunt, not a big deal but bring it on in and sit down, don't wander around the middle of the field for 10 min.

I have to disagree here. Trucks flare birds all the time. When I don't have enough people to cover a field, I'll park trucks where they'll flare birds towards our direction. It works a lot of times.

Wingman wrote:How long did we stop in the middle of the field, Click? 30 seconds? The only way out of the back of the field was to drive around the levee right by the hunters, and the levee was rough and narrow. I didn't want to drive right by everyone again, so we went out through the field. The other guy was making a loop through the field making sure there was no bait. I had to park up by the plant and wait about 5 minutes for the information to come back on the guy with no license...just a little professional courtesy to call in his number and take time out of my schedule to wait instead of issuing him a citation for not bringing his license with him.

The reason we rode down there in the first place is because of reasons mentioned above (runners). If I am in my truck it usually deters runners, but not always. I walked my share this weekend. I can guarantee you that if I walk into a field and run up on a guy with no license, I'm not walking back to my truck to call his number in, he's getting a ticket.

Instead of writing about 3 tickets to folks in the field for no license, hunters piling birds and not retrieving downed birds, I tried to educate folks. If it had been the Feds, more than likely y'alls field would've been taken down and us parking in the field for 30 seconds would've been the least of your worries.

:D Have a nice day!

Wingman,

First, I did not post up to bash game wardens. Second, we must be talking about a different field because the game wardens sat in the field for much longer than 30 seconds. Third, everyone was retrieveing their birds and finally yes there was one guy that did not have a license on his person. I later posted up in the interest of full disclosure that the GW could have written him a ticket but did not. As for the feds "taking our field down" I am not sure what you mean but it doesnt sound like fun. In fact it evokes images of Ruby Ridge and Waco.

Everything Wingman has posted here is correct.

After posting up here I asked several of the folks who were checked about their recollection of the events that led to this post. One person told me that Wingman could have written him a ticket for not having his license but did not do so. He did not mention the "piling of the birds" nor did he mention the wanton waste issue. Anyway I need to apologize to Wingman publicly. I did not mean for this post to turn into a GW bashing session and I should have had all the facts.

As for how long Wingman sat in the field we are just going to have to agree to disagree
