I also have Sirius, and had the same problems it sounds like you are having....then i paid to get an fm modulator (i think) and it works from coast to coast on one channel crystal clear. When it is working properly you should only be able to get a clear station on the one that plays your satelite radio.

I have the same trouble. I had an old unit that burned up, it would transmit right over a regular station without any trouble. I got a new model and had the same trouble y'all are all talking about (static even over an empty station). I leared through some research (and sirius confirmed it) that the FCC made them downgrade the strength of their FM transmitters so it couldn't "bleed over" into other cars. So they ship that crappy extender now and that p.o.s. doesn't help any. Right now I'm just living with the static until something else gives. Sirius said they had a lot of complaints, so I would call them if you think it would help anything. The tape deck player is probably the best answer, but that assumes you have a tape deck. I think things aren't gonna get any better as long as the FCC keeps screwing with satellite radio.

I have the same problem as well. Bought two at the same time. The one in my truck works fine, but the one in my wife's vehicle is awful. When the subscription runs out I am done.

where is the satellite receiver? Make sure it is unobstructed to the sky and the connection is good.

Called in first they tell me they will send a new unit and then switch to Wal-Mart is responsible for the first thirty days. I did not need anything to get my blood flowing on a Monday morning and I am sure I ruined that womens morning. It is pathetic the service you get these days and I am paying alot for dam radio. If they don't make this right they can have it all back. I also let them know that no one gave them permission to direct bill my account when subscription time is up. I can see this being a problem, if I cancel it.

Do yall think the tape player thing will fix my problem?

The tape deck will work.
Went and switched the units at Wally World same thing. I received a call this afternoon from a manager after an e-mail to them this a.m. I discussed with him that I don't think another unit is going to work. I told him that I had returned prior unit already and have the same results with a new one. He did verify the frequency in the new ones are FCC regulated as the old ones exceeded the FCC's maximum. Looks like best idea would be to EBAY an older unit or deal with the static. They are sending some kind of cable and some other stuff plus a card for a free install to get the unit hooked up with this wire. All in all too much damn squeeze for the juice.

The best fix is, if you just listen to satelitte radio, is to take your external am/fm antenna off of your vehicle, if it is an option. It will free up those stations that are trying to bleed into your fm modulated station. try it.

I tried that and for some reason the whole thing(including the Sat. Radio) quit working. Where can I buy the tape, and how many wires would it have running everywhere? I am kind of a picky person and I hate wires showing. Also wonder if there is a way to fix the antenna thing to where the Sat radio will work with the truck antenna taken off

This part...

....will address the problem. Unplug the antenna from the back of the radio and run it into the input in the black box. Run the output from the black box to the radio antenna female. Plug the output from the radio into the black box (same as modulator i/o). Takes 10 minutes max to install and sends the signal direct to the radio with enough output to bust any inteference. You have to program the frequency just like the modulator (exact same way). If this doesn't solve it, something else is happening.
