cwinkler why would that be calling the kettle black? I am a resident of Mississippi was born in California but been here for 45 years. I guide and 95% of my clients are Mississippians.

OSS's piss me off leasing ground 1) when they don't know what a fair price is

2) rent a gar hole with no history ( then the landowner next door feels he can charge the same thing)

3)Then shoot the place from 30 minuted before till sunset for 60 days. ( to feel they get their money's worth)

I have seen brakes leased to people who have ruined them in one year. Because they don't know you can't shoot a brake in the afternoon.

Sorry had to rant.

The only good thing is they will be here one year then gone put their are thousands more in line waiting.

Torch, you seem to be challenging the intellectual capacity of your out-of-state clientele. What do you want me to tell my friends from Florida who want to book guides for Mississippi duck hunts?

I don't think out of staters are the only ones paying exorbitant amounts of money on leases. I know plenty of Mississippians who do the same thing. A yahoo is a yahoo, no matter where they are from.

Just my humble opinion

Bruce

we will take them

I'm still wondering what the hell an OSS is? I was in the Air Force and we had OSS squadrons--Operations Support. Is this the same thing, or did you mean OOS? Like you said, us bama boys ain't that smart. We need a little help from you cosmopolitan boys over in that hotbed of culture some call Mississippi.

I like the out of staters, then you can hunt their lease for free during the week.

You know I always see a lot of people on here complaining about out of state hunters. Well how many on here have gone to another state to hunt or would like to if you could.

Plenty of Jackson, Southaven, Oxford, Tupelo, Hattiesburg and Meridian folks driving up the price of leases also. You can't blame it all on OOS'ers.

Frankly, I think we should just all strive to get along. Good hunting land is hard to find and the highest bidder usually wins. However, I have talked to numerous farmers who are tired of duck leases and duck hunters and are no longer leasing their land.

I see high corn and bean prices filling the wallet gap that duck leases once filled and I think that will probably result in less leases available in the future. Not to mention high wheat prices are causing an explosion of wheat fields the last two years. Some fields planted in wheat were flooded for ducks 2 years ago. As a result, you will have even fewer leases to divide amongst the masses and the bidding wars will go higher, higher and higher.

The next big thing will be goose hunting when everybody halfway figures out how to hunt them. Then the fields that are no longer flooded for ducks will be leased out for geese. The lease snowball will keep rolling on.

Ahhhhh....the sky is falling, the sky is falling.

I have no dog in this fight.. but .... i am curious ..... if you are offended by MS hunters..... then why exactly are you on MS (thats Mississippi) Ducks.com ......

if OOS comments upset you so ..... create your own sight ... otherwise get used to it ...www.ALDucks.com ... it might be available

I am sure this will start world war 3 but i really aint trying to .... this sight has loooong been known for its discontent and resentment of OOS

Hell .... i lost my camping spot to some AL boys ..... dammit Torch!@
