Heck if it was me I would go up tibbee to spring creek weave my way through the stumps and set up in the back of it. I would be willing to bet that not many folks go back there cause it is a pain, atleast in a bass boat, but I would think there would be some decent hunting back there. You might even want to try kellogg it is fairly easy to get too and I would think you ought to be able to get your wood ducks fairly easily. I know you can catch some big bucketmouths back there in the spring......... Good luck to you and remember that there is no substitute for time on the water or in the woods.

There are alot of decent places close by you that are good. You just got to get out there and SCOUT. I have hunted that river hard growing up. I will give you a few clues, backwater off old channels. Have fun!

ol hwy 50.. haven't hunted it in years, but I wouldn't give up on it. seems like yesterday.. a new drivers license, a puke green 77 ford, 14 ft jon boat with pvc blind, and a olt single reed from woods n water. I'd hate to know how many cussin fits were a direct result of our dum booty stunts at 50 that first year.

anyhow, I can tell you that above mentioned "kellogg" is absolutely covered up with-

i became a member last year just lost my old user name a pword when my parents spit so i just started a new one i think i found out about it from mdwfp ive i have hunted the back waters ive been scouthing i see the birds how would i go about maken the pvc blind and suggestions on a good decoy spread and how many would be enough in a small area and should they just be mallards or should it have some woodys in the spread

ekidd, I was just re-living the ol days.. you don't need a pvc blind, you need to get out and hide if possible. use to be the "land" wasn't "open to hunting", but have never heard of a problem with sitting on the bank. you've been in there since me, so no use in me trying to tell you where they may be. if your going to hunt it saturday, you need to go out there tomorrow and look. I doubt you'll slip up on much in a metal boat, so cross over and get out, walk up that long chute etc. IF you can find a group of ducks tomorrow afternoon, back out, and be back where they were, early. if in the right place, decoys and such won't matter as much, but surely throw a few out and quack a time or 2, after all thats part of a duck hunt.. and, if in the right place, your potential problems will be skyblastards and bad timing. bad timing would be somebody happens to shoot a duck, even a ways off, when your ducks are about to drop in and flare them. nothing you can do about those, but you can be in the right place. good luck, and center a stump for me..

I am in the same boat as you are chief, I was gonna go in the morning but of course I have nowhere to go, cause I have a bass boat that I don't wanna get all scratched up, I think I'll sell it in the spring and get some junky aluminum boat with a 25 horse next year (like my Dad told me to do all along), Anybody wanna bass boat?
