I was invited by a freind several years ago to duck hunt in SW turkey, at the confluence of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, a mere 250 or so miles north of Syria. The trip of a lifetime as far as I was concerned, and it would have cost nothing but airfare. A month or so later, the WTC towers collapsed in ruins, there were videos of journalists becoming beheaded, we were at war. My host to be has since been unable to attain his return visitation papers and I've reconsidered my desire to attend.
