I don't like decoys that are.......
  • too heavy
  • don't function
  • missing a place for a weight, 16 foot lines or a tie-off hook that wouldn't function when you CAN feel your fingers....or a neck you can't hold-on to while trying to wrap lines in freezing weather
  • so fragile that you have to carry them in socks or compartmentalized bags
  • all looking the same direction.....to the right

I like the G&H but do own some flams and GHG to fill in. Me and my brother are trying to phase all the older stuff out by buying G&H's every year......

Cabela's bought Herters out. Still sell some of their stuff like decoys and hunting jackets. I love my 4-1 Herters jacket system! Bought it when it was still herters.

I use Higdon. The have the best paint job, sit up higher in the water, look more realistic, and really move around in low wind. The down size is that they are foam filled. That would make them too heavy to throw over your shoulder and walk. You only need 18 to 24 for a full spread.

I prefer the G&H weighted keel for ducks. I find the GHG are just too heavy when you get three or four dozen of them together.

For geese I like political signs painted as #1, then Dave Smith for Specks and Higdon and Big foot Right close behind.

I haven't used any of the GHG on geese yet, so I can't really comment on them.

If you don't mind, please bring one of them up to Turcotte with you sometime. I've been wanting to see them in person.

I'm walking out the door to head up there right now if you're interested in shooting.

The old Flambeaus water keel. The new ones have that "heavey" look. Ducks prolly don't mind... I modified my greenheads with some flourescent green last year. Not sure it helps but it ain't flaring'em... I don't think drab greenheads looks right...Dang dog thought we were goin huntin for photo.

Anybody looked into/tried the UV deal on decoys? The green flocking that's around to me looks drab. They need to put some shiny green in it...
