deep pocket books paying his salary. bottom line. not making excuses for fat phil but it wasn't looking good from the start with basically a new staff, and having a team full of holes after loosing all american's and seniors. Don't forget they had 10 wins last year and in the sec championship game last year. every one wants immediate results, he didn't produce... this year

State needs to step it up and get better facilities and be ready to fork over more money to improve their program or they won't ever amount to much more than a bowl game every 3 years or so

Yeah and before that he was run off from Notre Dame. Sounds like just the guy we need. I'd prefer we get out of the black coach/losing season rut we've been in lately. Don't take offense, just my opinion that your Croom types aren't the best at raising money and keeping alumns happy. That is a very underestimated factor in college football seeing how alumns grease the wheels when the school can't or won't.

Well quite frankly all you are hearing is a bunch of B.S. Neither of the two in charge is talking and you won't hear anything out of them untill a decision has been made and a deal is done! That's just the way Byrne is and he will not be intimidated! Also at this point nobody knows what really happend with Croom but himself and Byrne and neither is willing to talk about it! Everything else you are hearing is purely speculation!

Noone may know exactly what happened, but, State is paying Croom every penny they owe him according to his contract. I could be wrong but and please correct me if so, If Croom just up and resigned on his own, Wouldn't that relieve MSU of paying croom? IF thats the case, that leads one to believe that croom was possibly forced to resign.. :?: :?:

Well, I am not a MSU fan nor do I attend MSU nor have I ever. I received this information from my friend today in a text and he is a part of MSU. I am not saying where his involvement is nor am I going to give his name. This is not stuff I picked up off of a forum.

Well it's like I said, Only they know what happend for sure and neither is talking about it. But I can assure you they did not buy out his remaining contract in full. There was a buyout offer made and accepted but what that amount was no one but the agreeing parties knows!

I am hearing that Lane Kiffin may be bringing Coach O back to the SEC as his defensive coordinator. Anyone else heard this?

Well Im not! I think he did a lot for us in the 5 years he was here. He did get control of our program back. That's a hell of a lot more than anyone else has done in the last 20 years or so. Granted he didn't win much but that's not all his fault. Croom was a hell of a good man. Just like a few more up there in the program. I didn't agree with some of his methods but he did regain control of our program and it all has to start there. You never knew who was callin the plays and running the offense so you can't blame it all on Woody either. Yes the buck stopped with Croom and I guess that's the bottom line. He was not forced out though!

I heard today that State was in New Orleans meeting with Coach O. They think he has matured and would be able to lead State.
