music may have changed, but from a non country fan (for the most part) it sure has got better lookin' the last seven or eight years! When I am bored I can still turn on CTV on mute and just watch and be a happy man.

If you want to listen to some good ole modern country music, find some Chris Knight. He's is about the only hit who still has that country twang in his music. Sings about tough times and dirt roads, not whose cheating who or bob that head (more commonly heard on Monday night football)

and blue jeans dont cost 2 bits anymore either!!!!! Im not saying I like the new stuff, Im just saying we all getting older.....hell look how far rock and roll has gone since Elvis!!!!! The evolution of music is pretty scary, but so is most of the world in the last three decades (im 34). Heck they voted Obama in, what youll expect the music to sound like!!!!

why is there not a station that plays good ole country music. there ain't nothing that plays the old music in our area. i get about sick of the same song every 20 minutes on Kix 106.

Get sirius outlaw country, the real stuff gets played there. You will never hear anything more than top 20 bullshat on cmt or any of the radio stations, same applies to about all music genres. Throw the rest of that so called country shat in the garbage.

I started listening to 95.3 they play better music than 106 and you don't have to listen to those douche canoes in the morning.

Well, what do you expect? here's SOME what I've been hearing on the so called country radio stations lately:

Cheryl Crow
Jon Bon Jovi
Chris Rock
Darius Rucker (of Hootie and the Blowfish)
Jessica Simpson, and
some teeny bopper or ten singing about how their boyfriend is doing them wrong by driving a tricked out 4x4

And I'll bet that "it's been a long tiiiime...." since any of these have ever even heard the phrase "Hello darlin'".

We are a culture devoid of true art.....we only get commercial art and it SUCKS.
(for those not aware: "commercial art" is an oxymoron)

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the death knell for traditional country music sounded in 1989.

The following musicians (I refuse to call them artists. Artists paint, sculpt, or draw.) debuted in 1989: Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, Vince Gill, Travis Tritt and a few others I'm sure I am leaving out.

Their first albums were great. So great that they made the studios a ton of money. The bean-counters and suits jumped on the bandwagon. They targeted young, new, (often throw away, one hit wonder) acts and "retired" the veteran country stars.

Main reasons: 1) Youth would spend more money on music than adults. 2) Country music videos - beauty over talent. 3) Country dance craze of the early 90s. 4) "Who cares about the traditions of country music? There's money to be made selling this dreck." 5) Many young, new acts could be taken advantage of when negotiating contracts to the studio's benefit.
