In LA, anything on the road has to have a registration.

Here if you build a trailer, you have to call the State Troopers office and they come out and do an inspection and stamp a serial number on it. Then you take that to the motor vehicle office and get a plate for it. PERM tag is the best way to go and you pay once and never have to pay a renewal again on that plate.

I'm sure there are people out there with multiple trailers that only have (1) trailer registered and just swap the plate from one trailer to another.

I am with Mud hog on this I get a perm tag for my boat and keep it in my truck for whatever trailer I am pulling. I sold my 16' boat to my father in law that lives in MS and no need for him to pay taxes on it when they have been paid in LA!

all trailers are required to have a tag in Ms. but in my 4 terms in office i have only had a handful of tickets. most of them were stopped at night with no lights and the driver insisted on running the mouth and gained an additional citation

I have never had a tag for a 4 wheeler trailer in my life.

I have never had anyone tell me or another officer any crap like that....

I got 2 tickets in Duck hill…yea, Duck Hill… for speeding and no tag on the trailer. I don’t know how much I would have had to pay, because I got them taken care of. I now have a tag for the utility trailer and one for the boats. Yea, I change them from boat to boat as needed. My Dad has never put a tag on any of his trailers. As far as I know has never gotten a ticket for no tag.

Can they tell the difference between a boat trlr tag and utility trlr tag when viewed?
Got wingnuts on the 'lil bolts... 8) Got 2 boats and atv trlr all 3 together used to be $75 each year. One is 'bout $25. The wifey says I'm like the democrats down in Bassfield who "switch'em tags just to go to the sto..."

How many utility trailers you have seen with bunks, bow roller and a winch in the front or how many boat trailers have you seen with a folding gate in the back and a folding gate on the side? I guess the boat trailers with the folding gates, they just put the whole trailer in the water and drop the front gate down and the boat drives off the trailer? then to load they just drop the rear gate and drive in the back?

Lets try this again too, in LA yes they can. First character on the plate is a letter and that letter designates boat trailer, utilitry trailer, so on.

I think the numbers and letter are different between boat and utility. If they call the tag in it will definitely give them the type trailer it's supposed to be attached to. I've got a tag on both my 4 wheeler and boat trailer. I've even taken some ribbing about having my trailers tagged.
