8 year old drake hooded sawbill. Does species count for extra years? I mean that's a pretty old fish fillet sandwich.

Speaking of Lessers, I got an email with pics of some Cacklers near Memphis a few days ago.

In 2002, I shot a greenhead banded in 1991, and in 2003, I shot a greenhead that was banded in 1989 with a hatch date of "1988 or earlier."

I killed a hen mallard so old that they could not age it...I had to send the band in for them to acid etch it just to read the numbers...Bird was at least 10 years old but beyond that it was a SWAG. Obviously my favorite or second favorite band.

Other most favorite band was also a hen mallard, my slumpbuster duck as I had gone 653 ducks without a band. I killed the old hen jump shooting cattle ponds in Hinds County on Christmas Day, 1980. I took the slumpbuster hen at my club near Satartia 4 or 5 years ago. So glad to bust the slump that I mounted her.

NOTE: The old hen was before I ever heard of Voluntary Restraint. The slumpbuster hen was doomed the second I saw the band on her leg as she and her boyfriend circled the dekes. These days I do everythign possible not to shoot hens. In 11 hunts this year (2 in ILL, 9 in MS), I have taken 2 hen mallards, 1 hen woody, 1 hen gad and 55 male ducks of various species. I know guys who do better than that but that is about the best I can do.
