Re: UFC 101 Saturday night
Embarrassing does not even come close! That fight was terrible!
Now B.J. Penn looked great against Kenny Florian! I kept getting tired of hearing Joe Rogan say how Kenny was just shooting in and trying to take B.J. down and was wearing him down and that B.J. would get tired, etc. Whatever Joe! B.J. showed how you take someone down and finish them!
Amir was to have a cake fight to get him back in the game after winning The Ultimate Fighter a year ago and not having been able to fight for injury ad health reason, Dana sets him up with a fight he should have no problems with and gets TKO. Now, Joe and whine about how it was stopped early, but Amir was knocked down and was taking blows, slipped back down due to blows and then the fight gets stopped as he is trying to get up a second time. Had the fight be allowed to continue, I do not think the outcome would have been any different.
I almost did not purchase this fight as I did not think the fight card was strong enough to make me want to purchase it, but at the last minute, I bought it. I wish I had not as the only fight worth sometihng was the Penn fight and I could have been fine just reading about it today.
I do not know what Dana is going to do. No one can beat Anderson Silva, no one can beat GSP and no one can beat Brock that is in the UFC at this time. The only weight class that is up in the air is the 185 class. Put with Silva looking to walk through this weight class now. Heck, maybe we should let GSP fight Silva and the winner of that fight fights Brock.
You know things are bad when Dana sets up a 2010 fight between Tito Ortiz and Mark Coleman!

That was the most amazing display of athletic prowess ever by Anderson. How do you do the things he does? Crazy!

It would be a great one but will never happen. Both have stated that they'll never fight one another.

Re: UFC 101 Saturday night
they may have to fight each other as i dont think there is anyone that will beat either of them in their weight class. i said earlier in this post that forrest was one punch away from destruction but i didnt know it would be that easy. i really like the guy but he has to be insulted, silva put his hands down and drew him in for the kill. i have wanted to see GSP and Silva for awhile now maybe that will happen.

UFC 101: Post Fight Press Conference Notes: Silva Won't Fight Machida
by D Wizzle (Columnist) Written on August 09, 2009
Dana White says Anderson Silva is the best pound for pound fighter in the world and that B.J.Penn looks like he is in great shape and the last time he was in this great of shape was in 2001.
He does not know where Forrest Griffin is and said he could be in Georgia already. He said that Griffin is an emotional fighter.
Silva said styles makes fights and Thales Leites wanted to take him down but Griffin stood there and wanted to exchange with him.
Penn's game plan was to take away Florian's kicks. He figured that Florian would want to kick him all night long.
White talked to Roy Jones Jr. tonight and said he doesn't like a Jones vs. Silva fight. He doesn't want to disrespect Jones Jr. but he does not like the fight at all since the UFC is MMA and not boxing.
White thinks Silva will fight Dan Henderson again in a rematch for the middleweight title.
There were 11,000 fans in the arena during the first prelim fight. That is a lot of fans for prelim fights.
White wants to come back to Philadelphia.
White gets $60,000 for Submission of the Night and Silva gets a $120,000 bonus as well. Griffin gets $60,000 also because his fight was "Fight of the Night."
White says he will make Silva fight Lyoto Machida in the future if Silva keeps on taking out all the top light heavyweights in the UFC. Silva shook his head and said that Machida is his friend and brother and that he will never fight Machida.
White says that there is no reason they shouldn't fight and that it does not matter if fighters are friends since MMA is no different than a football game.
Silva said Griffin should be respected because he is a former champion and that no one should think less of him because he ran out right after the fight.
Ricardo Almeida said he would like to go down to welterweight in his next fight because he was only 187 pounds today and he felt weak in the third round against Kendell Grove due to the size difference.
White said that Tito Ortiz is fighting Mark Coleman in his return to the Octagon.
White said he is planning to have a future card in Boston at Fenway Park.
Penn credits Marv Marinovich for helping with his conditioning.

Re: UFC 101 Saturday night
I have watched interviews with Silva and he has state numerous times that he will never fight Machida. I do not know what Dana will do when that match up is all there is, but Silva and Machida both say they will never fight.

I think Silva will finish out his contract and retire. He has already mentioned this and doesn"t want to fight Machida.

Why the hell would they never fight? That is stupid. Seems to me if I wanted to be known as the best i would fight all the way to the top. Lot more honorable to go out with a loss than say you aint gonna fight someone.

money talks and well you know the rest....... they will fight if asked to or they will leave the ufc it is just that simple. i got some best friends too but i would get in a cage and fight them for the kind of money they pay on these fights. it is a SPORT. no different than any other. friends compete against each other in all other sports.

Re: UFC 101 Saturday night
Griffin suffered a dislocated jaw.
As for Machida and Silva; this fight, in my opinion, will never happen. It is different than the Tito/Liddell friendship. Liddell wanted to fight Tito to get the belt although they were friends, at the time, and training partners. Guess Liddell did not want to be the bake in "shake and bake, shake and bake". So, he called out Tito and said he wanted the belt. Both Silva and Machida have both stated that the belt and money is not worth losing their friendship over.
It is one thing to be buddies on different football teams and maybe getting a hit in here and there, but to sit across a cage and know you got to go over there and beat your best-friends face in is a whole different issue in my opinion.
Silva probably has enough money to retire right now. He will probably finish out his contract and then open up a dojo and teach others.
