Now BLM you know there ain't chit to kill in La or Ms, don't be misleading that man.

You should definitely get in on some good ole delta ag duck/goose hunting while you're down here. AR, MS, and LA are loaded with it.
No way I could handle bama either...but mainly because I'd be proud about my purple and gold gear...

Let's make sure he fully understands the difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee...
Here's an interesting tidbit about the Florence, AL area. Back in the early 1900's, Henry Ford had basically decided on two manufacturing locations for his new automobiles - one being the Detroit, MI area and the other was...Florence, AL. I am quite happy he chose MI at the time. However, interestingly enough, the automotive corridor found it's way to the AL area some 90 years later.
Sure, the MI area has Smallies, Perch, Walleye and as they say, Crappies...but, who wants to endure the frigid temps along with it. Not sure which part of the "hand" your from, but I would hope it is not the eastern side. Western MI is absolutely beautiful while the eastern side needs to fall into Lake Erie. What say, Ehhh?

I am from the eastern side of the state. Lake st. Clair was mmy backyard. And I do agree with you about the westen side being better on the eyes. But I wwould give anything right now for a nice perch and walleye dinner. And when that ice comes there is nothing better then sitting in a ice shanty with some friends and a case of beer trying to hook some yelloow bellies. I am also eager to try the bass fishing down here, haven't had the oppurtunity bc my boat and gear is back home still. also I have never eatin catfish so I'm lookinf forward to that experience too. I'm willing to give florence a shot, but I'm just kind of sour right now because finding a job is proving to be more diff then I thought.

How long do y'all sit in those shacks? Doesn't it get boring as hell? I don't care how drunk you are...several dudes sitting in an outhouse on ice sounds horrible. Plus, as you'll surely learn in time, if its below 60 degrees we think its cold and start drinking whiskey to keep warm. Y'all drink beer year round up there?

I had a friends from Wisconsin when I was in school at Southern Miss. He talked about ice fishing and how they'd drive their trucks out onto the ice. Sitting 2 or 3 miles off shore on ice is not my idea of fun.
As for the whole war thing, we're just resting right now.

Had a boss once who wasn't very politically correct jump all over me once when I referred to it as The Civil War. He said, "Son, there wasn't nothing civil about what them bastards did to us."

Guess he hasn't moved on.

The fish are 100x better if there are caught in the winter. And the fillet is more firm if caught in the winter. Unlike yoour bass or catfish that are mushy as all hell from what I hear, I still cant get over the idea of eating a bass. But to each his own im sure I will try it sooner or later.
As far as the war... If you guys would have worn some shoes things might have turned out better for you. lol

I was under the impression you took a job in Florence(?) - but after that comment, I am now under the impression you threw a dart on a map...

I heard somewhere this week that Alabama is above the national average for unemployment. I know that makes you even more happy to be here. Welcome, and good luck with your job hunting.

No my sister has lived down here for 4 yrs, and while down visiting last march I met one of those southern belles. Needless to say 5 months later I packed everything I could fit in my truck and drove the 12 hrs and thought I might b able to make it happen. But it is proving harder then I thought

Sounds like you figured out the reason guys down here don't mind the mushy fish and hot weather.

I'm always amazed at the unemployment figures - even if the figures are 10% nationally, heck, it means 90% of us are working and of the 10% that aren't, at least 8% of that typically don't want a job anyway. Where's my check?
Read also where Ronald Reagan once said, "A recession is when your neighbor loses his job and a depression is where YOU lose your job." RIP Ronnie.
Now, back to the topic...

The women down here def have a lot less drama then back home. But something that I can't figure out is why women down here want to get married so young I have never met so many women under the age of 25 that are married with kids already. I'm 25 and. have not even considered having kids right now yet alone getting married

I am thankful I waited until I was about 30 to get married...you're thinking is good! You've got a lot to see down south.
