Judging from the amount of shooting I have heard from the house this morning, we are still as duckless as we was a week ago. I am within 400 yds of a NWR and I have watched 5....yes 5 total ducks go in there this AM. It may very well change tomorrow, but this is the fewet ducks I have ever seen in our area at this point in the season. We did not have our normal group of "Thanksgiving mallards" either. There is usually a lull between Dec 1 and Dec 20, but this is more than a lull, it is nothing. On the other hand, I am still confident this season will turn around. Farming friends in MO just started shooting ducks last week and cold temps are coming back. Habitat/water there is plenty of in the north Delta this year. I hope/expect we will all have a fabalous season from Dec 25th-end of January. If I have seen a flush of anything, it is out of state tags and strangers

Yeah, we are just south of you in N. Leflore county and this is the fewest we have seen in several years. I suspect what ducks are in the area are spread out with all the water in the delta and along the rivers. We have spoken to some friends who live in the area and they aren't seeing any either. Hopefully you are correct with your assessment of a successful late season. In any event the bars and resturaunts in Greenwood still have some of the best talent and music you can experience anywhere. We aren't going this weekend, hopefully after Christmas they will be there.
I ain't hunting, it's a tailgate party with shotguns.
