You fished the causeway? Did not know if they were still out there.

This time of year I fish the Hopedale area and Lake Ponchatrain. Go down to Empire/Buras during the summer.

Used to fish Delacroix a lot in college...buddy's dad kept a little cc down at the end of the world marina. Hear they doing some good fishing down there in the last month or so from my cousin that lives in g'port. Used to hit PAC once or twice a year from father in law's camp, but he's over in Chauvin now so we'll be fishing cocodrie. I'd say be careful about some of the ponds out there that are private and leased, especially during duck season. Oh, and act right if you buy bait in delacroix...we used to call em the bait nazis kinda like the soup nazi from seinfield. I assume they still in business since all the storms.

Yea...I noticed a lot of the ponds were posted so we kept out of those. There were a lot of duck hunters out Saturday morning but we saw very few big ducks and few groups of teal. We didn't launch the boat until around 7:30 so it may have been better earlier that a.m.

The End of the World Marina is no more (I can see how it got it's name). We put in at Sweetwater Marina which was less than a 1/4 mile back up the road. You literally have to back your boat across the road to the launch...tight squeeze down Hwy 300 with the boat docks/bayou on one side of the road and the camps on the other.

Sweetwater Marina apparently just opened earlier this year. They have several boat sheds and are in the middle of building a 5 room lodge/motel. They also sell bait now. Small world....Capt. Jack's cousin was the contractor and he happended to be from Brandon...guy by the name of Doug Fridge.

Question on the posted ponds - Once duck season is over, do they care if you fish in them or do you need to keep your booty out 365 days per year? There were a lot of good-looking ponds that were posted. The last thing I want to do is pi$$ off the locals. I know what it feels like to have to deal with trespassers.

I'll think we'll try Shell Beach/Hopedale area next as I want to fish the Biloxi Marsh.

I will try and answer your ? to the best of my ability. But i'm almost positive that they can't stop you from fishing posted ponds. They are really only leasing the ground below the water. So you can't anchor. Now of course most people use common curtisy and don't fish ponds that are being hunted. This goes back to the long lasting debate on here about hunting rivers that have flooded over it's natural banks and such. I can tell you this, if all i had was my fishing pole, and they had guns, i would be letting them call the shot's.
Where were ya'll fishing when you launched out of sweet water??? You go all the way down Terrabouef to black bay, or you stay more on the inside. I will tell you this, when black bay is right, it's hard to beat. I took about 6 trps over the course of 4 weeks earlier tis year and came back with 3 and 4 man limits of fish evey trip. But it's not always like that.

We started by going down the bayou to Four Horse Lake and worked our way up the pipeline to Lake John. The we crossed back across the bayou and fished Lake Petain. The wind made it almost impossible to fish the places we wanted so we did a little riding around/scouting for the next trip.

I definitely wouldn't interfere with someone's hunting, especially if they are on posted land. Was just curious if they really minded you fishing those ponds once duck season was over.

Got a camp in Empire. I fish for specks out of Buras, with an occasional trip to Venice to catch bull reds.
