I shoot a Benelli SBE. I had trouble at one point with it ejecting shells, found out I was oiling the gun TOO much. I hunt with my guns, I don't baby them, and it has taken all the abuse I have thrown at it. I will always love the Remington 870, you cannot beat it. However, if money was not an issue I'd point you towards the SBE. It really all boils down to personal preference when you get in the realm of higher end scatter guns. Personally I think the SBE is one of the most well balanced guns that is made. When I throw it the sight is immediately on what I'm looking at, which I like. It is light and doesn't kick at all. Best thing you can do is go try one out for yourself.
Good luck to you and happy hunting.

I agree about the SBE.If I couldn't afford another if something tragic happens to mine,I would be happy w/ my super nova and /or a Stoeger m2000.I know some people have problems with them but I love mine and have never had a problem out of the 2 I own.If I had to go out and buy another it would be either a Franchi I-12 (which I did own until somebody else wanted it) or a Beretta a390.

if you don't shoot 3.5 shells i would highly recommend the benelli m2. i had a beretta al391 urika (gas operated) that NEVER cycled properly when hunting in cold weather. took it to a gunsmith and sent to beretta twice and it was never fixed. put it in the closet and got an m2 last season and absolutely love it. saves some money over the SBE2. you can get more info on your options over on the shotgunworld.com forum.

My wife had 2 Browning Golds.......(she likes Golds). Since Browning discontinued them, it's nothing for her to go in a pawn shop, looking for Golds in good shape. I tried to get her to let me find her one, new-in-the-box, but she said it would cost too much. She didn't know I had a freind that can find anything you want and charge me a decent price for it. So, I got her a NIB Gold for Valetine's Day this year. She has not shot it yet.......but asked me to remove the packing grease, last week. I guess she's thinking about using it, soon.....who knows? So SX-2 and 3 might be a comparable gun to the Gold.
Golds require periodic cleaning. If you let it go too long, the barrel is harder to remove. My butt draws-up everytime I hear, "would you mind cleaning my gun when you get a chance?" .......but it's just her 3-1/2" gun that the 'o'-ring is a little tight. The other 2 are tolerable.
Before then, we both had Benelli Super 90's.......I still shoot mine for waterfowl and upland birds. Wife takes hers to Canada for upland hunting 'cause it's lighter for walking around. Both have performed adequately for our purposes.
Super 90's do not require as much cleaning as Golds......I usually clean mine after the season is over......(or if I get real bored). About all they need is 2 drops of oil on the slides if the action gets a little stiff.

I like 'em, too. The prince of wales style grip just suits me better than a full pistol that is all the range on the pasta guns now. I have a NIB spare laid up, too.

The main thing is to shoulder a lot of different guns and pick the one that fits you and has the balance you like. Fit and balance kill birds, not brands. I shot an Ithaca Featherlite for 20+ years and just recently switched to a Franchi I-12. Loving the Franchi.

Wow, not one auto-5 fan here but me? A good used jap magnum-12 A-5 with invector 28" barrel and a synthetic stock set, about $500. Not as reliable with low-brass and kicks a bit more than the gas guns, but: all forged steel, rarely ever fails, no gas residue to clean up, and to say it's a proven design is an understatement (100+ yrs.)

me to but as far as kicking the beretta extrema 2 and the sbe kick way harder than any of the 7 A-5's I own . I would recamend the browning gold I can go all season without cleaning mine ,I did it last year just to see if it would and it did no jams on 15 boxes of steel .
