A thick piece of heavy corrugated cardboard makes a great strop as well. Drag the edge backwards. It'll polish up the edge just as well as leather.

i have a dimond steel sharpener made by gerber..not sure that they even make it anymore..its shaped almost like a round knife with a handle but its the best thing i've ever used...well really the only and it does a banner job
