sounds like to me you hunt none of our public areas.... how is it "fair" to someone like me who hunts 40+ days a year to have the MDWFP tell me when I can hunt.... what if all our freelance areas go to draw and I dont get drawn???? so I go from hunting 40+ days a year to no days a year..... FAIR?????

Our rights as hunters are slowing but surely being taken away. WE need to do something NOW about this instead of just standing here and watching it being taken away! We as hunters put more money into conservation than anyone else, so why dont we have a say in this! We need to form an alliance and stand as one voice and put an end to this.

i'm "pretty sure" this was stated as a "now" by "someone" over the last "several years"........and, "very few" thought it important at the time.

I thought it was REAL important when they did it at MAhhanna. But or the nay sayers THIS IS COMING TO A WMA NEAR YOU

Just go ahead and dont believe it.

BR549-- Really, Whinning? Dude why would anyone be for more regulation when they DO NOT enforce the rules they already have!!!!?

No one is whinning man. Fairness is the Sob that gets out there at whatever time to get the spot he wants to hunt. NOT letting some computer in JACKSON tell you the day you can hunt. If you are for this you need to put your shotgun down and pick up a pixie stick or something. We dont need to fight about this we need to have a united front saying we will not tollerate it anymore!!!

Big whigs sitting behind a desk in Jackson telling us whats going to happen on our STATE LAND THEY could give a chit less because some bunch of rich folk going to take them on there 2.8 duck hunts per year and they will not set foot on the public ground they are screwing up!!!!!!!!!

And if you look, the turkey hunts are slowly but surely coming to a draw. Gator, I remember your post a while back that stated it wasnt a good idea. I'll try and find it, but I dont have much time on my hands right now either.

Don't hunt there much anymore, joined a club since it went draw. I still have friends that hunt it and they just show up and have yet to be turned away as a result. They don't, however, always get to hunt where they want to. Raising the WMA fee to say $100 would probably solve alot of the overcrowding. $100 might sound like alot, especially since it is state owned land, but if you hunt alot that is cheap. Would keep alot of the undesireables out, but then again so does the draw.

Yea I still say it's whinning! Why do you think they had to do what they did at Mahanna in the first place! It's because of this very kind of crap! Yea I could hunt all 60 days of the season if I wanted. Yes I hunt on mostly private land too! I've been furtunate. But I can have just as much fun hunting on "Public" land too! I did it this year! Best huntin I've had in a long time! Hunting is a priviledge in this state not a right! Nobody owes you anything! You just worried about someone regulating you and telling you what to do. Well gee I wonder why they have to do that in the first place! Maybe if everyone used their head and not overcrowded the areas, not acted like a freakin fool and not try to whine about it cause someone else outsmarted them or beat them to a spot maybe, just maybe it wouldn't have to regulated so hard! Well if you don't like rules and regulations that are instilled on public lansds because of that "you owe me" attitude then go find you a club to join! Problem solved! Chances are with attitudes like that most clubs don't want members like that anyhow!
I'll be the first to agree the rules we have already on the books should take care of the problems. But, there is not enough manpower in the state to control it. Yea some wardens could do better. But most are doing about the best they can given the resourses they have to work with! It's not the state that's ruining public hunting, ITS THE FREAKING HUNTERS!!!!!!!

YES I DO BELIEVE IT IS!
If there are 100,000 hunters trying to hunt wma's that can only handle 50,000 then yea I do. Who died and made you god! It is public resourses. it the crowd exceeds the capacity of those resourses then it must be regulated. If that regulations means you or I can't hunt as much on public land as we used to so be it! I'd rather have the resourse and hunt less than not at all! You can't have your cake and eat it too! If you don't like it then QUIT!!!!!!!!!!

Not on the draw places you wont! Not unless you get drawn! Thay will prob be some rainy 60 degree day.

Thats the freakin point man!! There would be no race if there were not a time limit. OVERREGULATION. Probably woulnt be an overcrowding issue except the Brake is a draw now. OVERREGULATION! How many you need Blled off from the other draws makes the ones that are not a 3 ring. OVERREGULATION.

Overregulation with NO enforcement!!!!! I mean THE FREAKIN PLACE HAS AN AREA MANAGER!!!! What part of this crap could be avoided if HE DID HIS JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll probably get flamed for this but I'll go ahead anyway. BR549 is right. Unless those against the draw have another solution besides, "just enforce the current rules" then you will not be heard. Public land hunting has to many hunters for the resource and it gets worse every year. The job of the state is to manage that resource. Not make it easier because some hunter is pissed off they cant' hunt "their spot" like they used to by getting there at 1 in the morning and bullying, BSing, and or intimidating those who dare try to hunt that spot. I've seen it happen to the point of near about coming to fist fights.

The state has to stop this crap. My flame suit is now on. Flame away.
