Day three of hunting turkeys with lockjaw in Alabama. I agree that things should start to pick up Friday morning when the weather clears and the temps rise.

i had 4 firing off this AM in different trees. Then they all hammered on the ground for a little while before getting henned up. Two gobblers flew down at about 100 yards, but had no interest in the phantom hen when there were over a dozen real hens already nearby.

Finally had some birds gobbling this morning. We had four long beards in the edge of a pasture start heading our way only to get upstaged by two very vocal hens. They were at 60 yards when the real hens intervened. Hard to compete with the real thing sometimes. We probably could have waited them out and had some success this morning but had to get on into the office.

the last 2 days they have been tearin it up. it's getting better each and every morning. this morning they gobbled well on the ground and heard a bunch of hens cutting up with gobblers responding. where me and my folks are at, if you were fortunate enough to get a bird this week its a bonus, because until this morning the gobblers have showed no response to a call. it's either been crawl'em or meet them at the roost tree that afternoon. It's really about to get good boys hang in there!

for exmaple you could kill a 4 greenheads (two banded), a mallard/black cross, and a mallard/gaddy cross and smash a hot blonde on the way back to the ramp and call it a hell of a day
and THAT is a duck hunt.

Picking up a little. My son and I made a quick hunt before school and heard nothing....until we were putting our stuff in the truck and a gobbler cut loose about 20 times. I guess we'll be back there tomorrow morning!

Still pretty quiet for me in the northern part of the state. Birds have been somewhat vocal on the roost but once they hit the ground they have been in stealth mode. Circled up on a group of birds we saw in a field and they ended up all being hens. Dissapointing start. The first few weeks of the season up here are always a little frustrating. It is tuff to break off a bird right now. Hopefully we will have some warm sunny consecutive days and I can roll a jellyhead this weekend.

seemed like perfect conditions today - so i took a friend to my best spot where i heard over 10 different birds several times last year - and heard 2 last week...and my streak of hearing atleast 1 gobble a day everyday so far this season was broken - because i heard ZERO NOTHING NADA.

...and a friend of mine was covered up with double digit gobblers not too far away. Thats turkey hunting for you.
