ya'll can call BS on this if you want but on a hunt in OK one year we rode up on a water tank, I call it a pond, but anyway I swear before god there where at least that many strutters 50+ to be safe at that water tank... craziest thing I have ever seen in my life.... and as I remember it there werent that many hens, I remember like 5 or so

The Waterfowler wrote:Some of you are dreaming of World Slams and we can help you. When Ramsey first came to me with the invitation to join the Getduck.com team I said right off that we need to offer turkey hunting on the site and I had the connections for that. This April I am taking Ramsey to the jungles of the Yucatan Peninsula in the State of Campeche, Mexico for his first look at Ocellated Turkeys and a hunt down there. This is not a normal hunt as many are used to doing here in the states. Detail will follow and since I was at this same camp last year I look forward to seeing RR's impression. The last two birds for the Royal and World Slam are in Mexico and we have the safest, most dependable and comfortable destinations there are. Gould hunting is at 8,000 feet on a 55,000 acre ranch in the heart of the Sierra Madres and is beyond description. Join us if you will and don't hesitate to call for details and references. Whether it's Osceolas in Florida, Rios in Oklahoma and Texas or Merriam's in South Dakota plus the south of the border species we've been there and done that and can get you where you need to go.
Here's a little teaser of a few of my mounts from past trips.
Ocellated
Gould's
Osceola
Merriam's
Rio Grande
Eastern

Did Shane Smith in Alabama mount those birds? I seem to remember that mount on his site. Beautiful mount.

dude's got the best "one liners" on the planet.....he called to tell me (i.e. rub it in) about the number of strutters yesterday........he was excited, i could tell, and i was for him.........
i'm like dude, which one you gonna go after and his answer (i quote) - hell, i dunno, i feel like a misquito in a nudist colony.
i liked to have run off the road laughing at that........

Pat called at noon-thirty. Saw about 200 gobblers yesterday, the season opened this morning. Killed a good rio at 10 feet right off the bat this morning, left camp at 11:00 and came back with another at noon. We've got 4 clients hunting there also. Outfitter dropped off a couple clients from WV. When he returned to pick them up, the hunters had moved and there were 4 gobblers standing where they'd been. One had gotten a rio early and they decided to think outside the box and move. They all immediately left to go hunting again when The Waterfowler returned with his 2nd gobbler!

If I had feathers, I would hate the name Pat Pitt. That man will flat out kill some birds.

Pat called from the
Oklahoma Turkey Hunt to report that by lunchtime on their 2nd day, all GetDucks.com clients have scored
at least 2 rio gobblers and are happy campers.

Shane mounted some as did Cally Morris and Harry Whitehead. I prep them and we do a lot of mounts in Shane's shop as he has great facilities for doing them there.
Got in from Oklahoma last night. Great trip and in a week I only hunted what ammounted to 2 days to tag 7 birds. I'd rather be lucky than good any time. Thread to follow with pictures. God bless the Rios.

You gotta travel to kill different stuff. We don't have Rios in MS.
