farmerc83 wrote:So Palin is out for Prez in '12....who is in? Could we see a Gingrich/Barbour ticket? Gator, your description of a fat white dude with the southern drawl just made Barbour jump in my head.

Barbour WILL make an announcement after this election gets clear, but I am hoping it's more along the lines of Republican National Chair, instead of President. While I would love to see Haley in the White House, I believe his chances are slim and would be better served as RNC.

+1 See Barney Franks who won last night
I agree Vickers....Barbour is too stereotypically white and southern to make much of a splash in a natl election. God how I wish he or anyone for that matter could knock Thompson out of that 2nd disctrict seat.

I see Palin as pure entertainment and not to be taken seriously. Its all about her making money while she can at this point while the fire is hot.

I think Barbour would make a good president.. Lots of folks don't think he could get elected, but then again we didn't think a 1 term liberal socialist Senator could get elected either..

Speaking of fire hot....Palin is exactly that. Man I would hit it, but unfortunately I believe she will be running in '12.
To Gator's point, of some new face on politics, I was hoping that Boener (sp?) would step down and let Cantor move into the speaker seat.
Talk about a young fresh face on politics. He's also the guy that came up with the YouCut voting process that allows the public to vote on
items to cut out of our massive debt load. This guy is going to be a future leader for us.
For President, I will have to disagree with on the young part though. We need a very politcally savvy person to run the country. I'm a strong
Gingrich supporter and hope and pray he will finally give me someone to vote FOR instead of just voting AGAINST the other guy. Although I do
like Barbour, I believe someone else said it best, I think he should stick to the RNC chair spot, or even pick up Thad Cochrins senate seat when
he decides to retire. I believe Gingrich can bring the country back to it's greatness, I believe he will give Iran the punch to the nose that they need, and I believe he will shut our borders down to stop all this wetback migration BS that has gone on for way too long.
Just my $0.02
Plug.

putting barbour up for candidacy = BO another 4 yrs.......sorry, it does. i hope and pray he doesn't decide to skullfluk this country by announcing he's running for presidency. if he wants to be a responsible America, he'll say thanks but no thanks. who does he appeal to? people in the southeast and possibly POSSIBLY texas (but that's a stretch, IMHO). ain't enough votes that count.
while i agree with gingrich on many of his stances and would vote for him, again, i think the MAJORITY of folks that vote in this country had enough of him when he was speaker (or got the wrong idea/impression about him) - i could be wrong, i just think he polarized the country a fair amount in that time....
i stand by my assumption that a younger (very relative here, i'm not talking some 30 yr old), energetic, charismatic CONSERVATIVE needs to step up to the plate or we're gonna be faced w/ "big ears for 4 more years".
don't think your 2 cents is a bad schilling at all, just don't think gringrich stands a chance......
my opinion though, gator

There are really no young Republicans who have the experience needed to be president in 2012. We bashed Obama for not having experience, having only been in the Senate for less than one full term, so why would we want to put Rubio up? Gingrich has way too much baggage. Jim Diment from South Carolina would be perfect, in my opinion...experienced and very conservative. Palin needs to stick to the "hot t.v. babe" role on Fox News.

I like Diment myself. i don't count someone born in the 50's as old.....mainly b/c i don't want to think about my parents as old....
i really haven't looked at anyone on the national scene enough to be honest, i just know what i'm looking for.......and, i haven't found it yet.
gator, who doesn't like voting for the lessor of 2 evils

Rubio is 900k in debt, charged 100k in personal expenses on the republican party of Fl credit card.
Personally, I wouldn't ask him to lead my country out of debt.

I don't think Rubio can have enough experience either, but getting your advice from Gingrich, Barbour and Diment would be a hell of a lot better than no experience Obama getting advice from Pelosi, Reid, Franks and the likes. I'm not a proponent of putting him up in 2012, just asking if thats the type and age guy he was thinking.

Palin would be the worst possible Presidential candidate in 2012. She could not fulfill her responsibilities as Governor of Alaska because of "external distractions" and resigned. What makes her or any of her supporters think she is fit to serve as President of the United States? She couldn't even do the job the citizens of Alaska elected her to perform.
