Definitely not in the southeast. We've changed the landscape from its natural state of timbered floodplains to wide open farmland to monocultured pine forests and now to parking lots and walmarts. If there was anything, it would be extinct by now, like the Fl Red Wolve. Few species can survive those changes. And if it was there, it would have been seen over the past 300 years of European influence. As far as out west, I think Native Americans would have seen and described the animals to white settlers.

completely unknown, i would say no in the continental US. i do think there could easily be "pocket" populations of formerly known species. Much as with the black footed ferret, giant Canada geese, etc. I think there are some red wolves, jaguars, panthers, black bears, in areas that science does not currently document their presence. I think the jaguars that range into Arizona are one of the coolest stories.

well its actually been tammer than I thought and I really cant make up my mind I do agree that if it is its not in the southeast too many rednecks with guns and trail cams...............
