Fairley got flagged for roughing the passer on that play, which is exactly what he did. UGA took their shots at him. Their center repeatedly flopped down on him at the end of plays. On the play where Goggans got ejected their center and both guards flopped down on top of Fairley after the play. They got plenty of shots in on him. He got hurt in the first quarter, something with his right shoulder but they still couldn't block him, even with double teams. If your QB is getting hit as much as he did and Fairley only gets flagged for roughing once then the O-line needs to figure out how to block him. On plays where they did commit to blocking him it allowed the ends or other DT to get pressure on the QB. Nobody has been able to successfully block Fairley all year. That's no reason to say he needs to be taken out. Learn to block him and none of this is an issue.
They successfully contained Fairley on the 4th down play with about 5:45 left in the game but it allowed Eguae to get to the QB and force an early throw. Block the D-line and protect your QB. Most teams haven't been able to do that effectively and the result in your QB gets beat up and somebody steals his lunch money. Quit whining about it and go pick your QB up off the turf. That kid Murray still played a helluva game even getting hit as much as he did. He's gonna be special if Richt can get his act together over there.
On a separate note, there's no excuse for the Auburn players throwing punches. UGA definitely instigated it but Auburn should have just walked away and let the officials sort it out. As an Auburn fan I'm ashamed of that and I hope they have to run every step in that stadium everyday this week. That was embarrassing.
