Take care of a good leather strap and it will last longer than you will. This one is from Circle C. Saddle Shop, Lake Charles, La. It is over 20 years old and looks as good as the day that I first got it. Jack

I've got one of the duckstraps that I got for Christmas but I don't ever take it with me. I'm always afraid I'll lose it. I got a bad habit of misplacing stuff. I'm just going to use it in a dead mount. :D

Would you recommend getting the 6 duck loop or the 6 hunker hauler. I do alot of walking in and out to holes and it looks like the goose strap has a better strap to throw over my shoulder for walking out? Anyone have either one if these?

Will the brass react to the mineral oil?

Mineral oil will dissolve a plastic zip lock bag...

It would be nice to get the strap that I was promised like 6 months ago...........................

Never done it for us, and we've oiled them multiple times over the years, always in a ziplock bag. May need to refer to Ramsey's post above.

R2 - thanks, but i do know the difference... I use mineral oil also. normally put it in a hard plastic container, but this year - per DS suggestion - put it in two zip lock bags on top of my refrigerator.
The oil came through the bag, and my wife was not pleased with the slick spot on top of her refrigerator.

Put in in a third zip lock bag in the garage, and it came through that one also.
yep, they were cheap Wal-Mart, zip-lock freezer bags - but I promise you the oil will react to the
petroleum in that bag, and it will make a mess...
