I can remember the 100+ pound yellar dog of yester-year jumping over me AND the quick set blind top to retrieve ducks, and that morning he broke ice the entire way like only a large dog can! And yes, I still laugh when I think about us doing circles to clear the ice! Am glad to ear he finished strong and thanks for sharing those pics. Old dogs are the best dogs.
That was the morning Reagan puked in the front of your boat and Delta pizzed on your jacket in the back.

Now that too sounds like one hell of a day for sure! Hope you and the dog have plenty of time left together to enjoy!

Thanks for sharing. Just seems the years fly by once you get through the learning years. Glad you got to make some more memories. Its hard to watch their body not be able to keep up with their will to hunt.

Pirates of The Mississippi....if you ever have owned a dog, this song will bring tears to your eyes.
+1 and especially if you've had one named Jake. We lost our Golden back in 2007 and even though I've got another lab that is a part of the family just as much as Jake was, it's still not the same without Jake.

GREAT story Sam, I will be taking my black dog Abbey on her final hunt this weekend. She has become slower and very hard of hearing, but anytime I pack my camo or grab my gun she waits at the door and as I leave you can see the disappointment in her eyes.

Great pics Sam. Reagan was the first dog I ever saw pick up a duck, and part of the reason I started looking to get a dog of my own. Glad to see you two get out there one last time.

Chuckle, I have told my wife time and again about this gorgeous dog of yours,I just could never find any pictures to show her. Thank you for posting this picture to show her! We have a 14 month old that I am working myself and can only hope she retrieves part of what Reagan has! He is an awesome dog for sure.

Just hunted my 12 year old for the last time a few weeks ago. First time I hunted Tex this year, he's deaf and slowed way down. I almost felt bad letting him go but he loved it. Good way to close it out.

Dealing with the same thing myself this year. My girl is retired now. she just doesn't have the same drive anymore.
she was having a pretty hard time with each duck she retrieved on the youth hunt especially getting back into the blind. She did great on every retrieve ,ran as fast as she could to the bird but walked back (tail still wagging though)! The memories she has given me and hopefully still will ,she will be camping with me and the family every time we head to Enid. Here is a few pics of her, thanks for starting the thread Chuckle.

Ole Yellar Dog,
Thats a good post Sam. He is a good-un. Glad you got to hunt with him again.
Cowboy has some big shoes to fill, but i dont think he will have a problem.
