Don't listen to that jibber jabber. "He who spends the most money on gear, kills the most ducks!". Everyone knows that.Anatidae wrote:....butgrant_c wrote:I got a benelli m1 with 28'' barrel with kicks mod, I shoot kent #4s and i've taken some pretty awesome shots with it.....have you 'hit' any, is what matters.....
Mulvihill88 - tailor the gun/choke/load to the hunting situation (I.e. Fields, river backwaters, tight timber, open timber, etc.
For instance: tight timber- SK, cyl or IC and 1-1/4 oz loads. Probably would opt for 26" bbl. in that scenario.
If I had to pick a bbl length for all-purpose wingshooting it would be 28" with screw chokes. I would use factory chokes until I was convinced (provided my wingshooting skills were solid) I could justify the expense of custom chokes.
Start with basics and develop skills. It's not about the stuff, but what you do with it that counts.
It was a 4 guage actually.arduckslayer wrote:It was an 8 guage, like the person that posted before you saidlevi127 wrote:What was it the 5 guage or something like that from TK and Mike duck hunting? If you get your hands on one of them you will get a mixed bag everyday or over the limit if not enough people with you!
Serious note. I like the 22in with a patternmaster extended choke with 3 1/2 black coulds max payload on a 10g.![]()
On a serious note, you'd never get to take a gun with a 22" barrel to one of my duck pits. Way too short andtoo easy to leave everybody with ringing ears and a headache.
