tried chimay maroon for the first time....it is ok. tastes like chimay lite - like watered down chimay blue (my favorite chimay). also got some hop devil and hop wallop from victory, as well as the old faithful sierra nevada torpedo ipa (haven't been able to get any thunderhead ipa - they said it doesn't stay of the shelf long....).

gator, i'll send you a hop wallop and hop devil along with a few dogfish 90 and a chimay blue (got a few more saturday, so i'll let one go  ). pm me a cell number and i'll get him to call you to arrange a pick-up when they get back to town.

donia, i mean no disrespect, but i'm serious about this diet.............whiskey and water is all i've had for months

i just looked at what i picked up in NM...........sixers of:

sante fe pale ale
bridgeport IPA
New Belgiums Ranger IPA (haven't seen this one anywhere)
Roswell brewings Amber Alien Ale

soon as i reach my goal of 31# wt loss (i'm at anywhere from 23-25 right now and holding unfortunately), i'm gonna break my foot off in some beers for one week - then i'm gonna see just how much i can loose........i got like 8 cases of good stuff from various breweries i've been "collecting" for 6 months now........

that's where i find the stores, as well as tips on what to try - those places are like a candy store and you can get overwhelmed in a hurry trying to find what you want....AND stay within budget! i came out with some random muck once and it was the worst $50 i've ever spent on beer. gotta be more informed going in...

a lot of the places recommended in there have beer lists online and that helps tremendously when the wife calls and says i'm in (insert town in a state with high gravity beer**not ms), what do you want and where can i find it close to (insert hotel).

lots of good info there.

If I am talking about mine then I like the redbull and the king fisher beer. I have also tried the indian summer but I don't like it as a redbull. So basically I have the test like redbull beer and the redbull energy drink.

Any of you guys ever had DIXIE New Orleans Slow Brewed Beer? I bought a 6-pack the other day and it was rather tastey.

Bringing this thread back up to recommend a new beer popping up aroung Montgomery. Have y'all tried anything from the SweetWater Brewery in Atlanta? The IPA and Blue are both worth trying.

sweetwater makes some good stuff. the ipa, to me, is really grapefruit dominant - it is good in a frosty mug on a hot day

they carry it at world markets in b'ham, as well as a lot of the "good beer" stores. i know it hasn't made it to central or west tn, not sure about east tn.

I had some Sweetwater 420 at a pizza joint in downtown Atlanta last year and I was very pleased with it! Good stuff!

After posting this yesterday, I got to thinking about a good cold beer so I had to pick up a six pack last night. The SweetWater IPA went great with grilled pork chops. I was surprised to find it at Publix. I usually buy most of my "specialty" beer at Dirks Filet and Vine in Montgomery. If you're ever around this part of Alabama looking for good beer, it's definitely the place to visit.
