I can't post maps until I get 100% verification of accuracy from the Corp, even though its their data...
We are working with the Corp to either help verify our maps or publish their own. Lot of people need to know but we have to make sure we are putting out accurate info.

Redspeckable: I think Vidalia is 70ft of elevation, and the river gauge is not based on elevation. If my math is correct 70ft of elevation is about 62ft of river based on the Natchez gauge. That would mean levees are three feet short

Thank you, DanP....accuracy is very important, right now!!!....somebody put a "sort-of-official-homemade-looking" flood map on Facebook, yesterday, that got some folks in the central delta pretty worked up.

That could very well be true. I'm going strictly based on what I've heard from the mayor and sheriff. Of course, I would trust some on here more than what comes out of their mouth.
Let me know what you find out.

I was there. Basically they said water is going to get to 95ft if the backwater levee holds. If the backwater levee doesn't hold water is going to 106ft. They are going to start tomorrow working on the backwater levee. They said they feel confident in levees holding.

I was down in Rodney today looking at where the water is and where it's gonna get. The 2 houses right there at the old church are building dams around them because the water will get about 5 feet deep in each house if they don't. The old church with the cannon ball in it will take some water too.

As far as it being up on the side of the levee, at 51 ark city it will be about 4 feet from getting inside my place at Buelah. Its 23 feet off the ground and near eye level with the levee. So there will be a *!@#@* ton of water on the levee if it gets that high, maybe 10 feet from the top?
Is your place up on the north end? Doug Fedu had about a foot left in 08 before it got into his place, and I was thinking he was on the tallest hill back there

I just heard that the levees were recently raised and some are being patched right now so the Corps expects the levees to hold the 65 feet at natchez. The online elevations do not reflect the raised levees. Didn't mean to get anyone startled, just trying to get and pass information like everyone else

Right that's what I heard and that the levee up by waterproof and St Joe will only hold to 63. The schools plan is to get out a week early and if we do get a mandatory evacuation we are taking all students to Harrisonburg by bus. We have to ride the bus too
